I ordered Brita GERF-1000 that replaces my GE-MWF filter. I was saving about 5 dollars. I have a GE Profile refrigerator, about 4 years old. This filter does not work. No water flow at all. I contactacted filtersfast.com and they refunded product plus shipping without question. I reordered a GE-MWF filter immediately. I highly recommend buying through filtersfast.com. Just don't order a Brita filter as a replacement. I suspect some GE refrigerators are different and the Brita works. There are a few postings on Amazon where others were having the same problem as I was having.

I always keep a spare cartridge or two on hand so that I can have Pur filtered water all the time. I am confident that I have quality water because this product will stop working once the cartridge is exhausted. Some cheaper filters will continue working way past their prime, making them an iffy proposition as to whether your water is actually filtered. My Pur filter is mounted in my kitchen. I take a carafe of filtered water upstairs for use in my master suite. Purchased bottled water is often of questionable quality, so I bottle my own from my Pur filter. Purchased this unit to pair with a fixed wide patter showerhead for walk in shower. Wanted a hand held option for cleaning, as well as massage options. The water pressure is adequate but not strong, even upon removing the flow restrictor. The massage action is OK, but not as strong as my original shower masssager from the mid 1980's. The vinyl hose is annoying as another reviewer mentioned, in tat it does not hang well and can result in shower head twisting while using it.

Sure the box raves about how it filters different types of sediment, but it doesn't tell you how leaky it is. We bought two (one after another) and it leaked from underneath the faucet connector both times. Tightened and retightened, but no improvement. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Didn't even get to taste the water

I have had this filter system a year and am very pleased. It was easy to install, it just screwed on the tap. The black/chrome looks sharp with my stainless steel faucet. The LED light turns red so you know when to change the filter. The taste of my water is SIGNIFICANTLY improved! It's a great product for a great price.

As with almost all water filtration filters and systems, these items are still far too high priced for justification as to recovery of research and development costs. But as long as the American public continues to purchase soil by the bag, air purifiers for every room and water in handy, chilled bottles, the costs of these items will remain high. Generic manufacturers would do well to offer these items for the sake of all people. Until that time, we, as Americans, have only ourselves and our fears to blame for the costs and expenditures we allow and encourage.

This really does a great job of improving the taste of tap water. And it is saving me a mint on bottled water, not to mention saving the planet from a bunch more plastic bottles.
