I picked these up for my landscaping company, to get a set of small handheld tools to assist with planting tasks. I've been a fan of Radius Garden's NRG-PRO tools, and decided these went along nicely with that same theme. Of course, to really be useful they have to do their job well, and not just look pretty. These tools succeed, and have shown no signs of wear or tear despite digging into both cultivated soil and uncultivated meadow areas. Perhaps the best statement about them is that, after six hours of use a day, you don't notice any problems. They really act as extensions of your hands. Cast aluminum garden tools are the way to go...bought my first in 1975, coated the handles in plastic dip and until stolen early this year, they were as good as new. Amazon made me an offer I could not refuse and this set has the perfect tools with nice grips. Bought two sets for my retirement (huge) garden.

This Gerber camp axe with sheath (clam) is a beaut. It exudes quality. The 45905 is light and short, perfect for one hand use, but not to worry, this axe is balanced prefectly for splitting medium to large diameter (18-20") logs and for cutting logs, limbs, or trunks with ease. The blade is shaped well for splitting and the steel is first rate; it holds an edge well and sharpens easily. This is the hand axe all others should be compared to in the camp axe market. Moreover, the price is very good.

These are easy to use without much effort in the squeezing. It makes it much easier on the hands. (Very very sharp, also.)

This hatchet is sharp. No question. It's balanced well and nicely engineered and crafted. I am using it to split kindling which it does superbly. It is a good weight for light duty splitting. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the plastic handle is slippery, especially with any glove material that tends to get slippery with cold and ice...nylon, fleece etc. I suspect I can find a way to solve that on my own but I am a little surprised, given the quality of design and engineering, that wasn't taken into account in the first place.

The Amazon.com product description is exactly right on! This tool, made in Japan, is as sturdy as they come - beautiful wood handle, strong blade, and a very fancy sheath with ornate decoration. The only problem is that it is so darned pretty you don't want to get it in the dirt. Anyway, I did, and it performed extremely well. A high quality product in every way!

This is an excellent product (I have another purchased earlier) and it was delivered on time. In addition to being very sharp, it folds so that you can carry it safely in a pocket.
