I bought a few of these for a Halloween party. They're moderately bright, and more of a deep orange than a vivid red. I like them much more than the orange ones I picked up. I'd have preferred if they came in 18w (75w equivalent), but you can't have everything, I suppose

This has a nice orange glow that looks like a heating element but it stays cool. I use it to light up the animal den at night. I didn't want to use red. Orange is also good for animal night vision and looks nicer too. This bulb lights up pretty good and uses very little electricity.

I ordered these 23-watt CFLs to replace 100-watt bulbs in a few locations at home. I had read that "cool white" fluorescents were better for reading. The bulbs work just fine. If you decide to use cool white CFLs, though, be prepared to have your living space lit up with the sort of bluish-white glow you'd see in a doctor's office or dentist's office. In fact, in the living room, we actually decided to replace the cool whites with soft whites so that we had the slightly yellowish glow we've all become used to in living spaces. In my house, I have a number of fixtures where old Edison light bulbs would burn out very quickly. Once I started using this product, I found that the bulbs lasted much much longer. And the bulbs also save energy; each bulb consumes much less energy than the old Edison bulbs. So, for the most part, I'm a pretty satisfied customer. A down side? These bulbs don't produce as much light as their predecessors. But, do a cost-benefit calculus. Each bulb lasts longer and consumes less energy. In the final analysis, this is the way to go.

All of the 4 I ordered are dead after 2 Months. Stay away from these! They all worked well at first, and very bright. 2 were pointing up and 2 were pointing down. No enclosures were over any of the bulbs so there was no airflow restriction. No dimmers of any kind I have just a normal wall switch. They start to flicker then smoke, stink then quit. These 40w Feit bulbs are junk. I'll never buy a Feit bulb again of any wattage. You have been warned.

The picture shows a standard bulb base. The description says medium base. The picture is correct. Bulb is ok, instant on. Color is similar to conventional incandescent bulb.

This bulb is the most efficient bulb you can get! I played around with LED's and sure they would last longer and save even more energy, but as of today they can't compete with CFL and yes I know CFL's are bad because of there mercury. My setup I use this build is a 60Watt Solar panel connected to a charge controller/battery. I have a couple of those bulbs hooked up outside and its amazing how bright they are...
