I had no problem opening this as another reviewer did with getting the case open. I used the tip of a standard flat head screw driver. This remote is compatible with other Stanley remotes that have 10 pin switches with two positions (on and off). You also need to make sure your system is 310 MHz. If your remote has 310 anywhere in the model number then it probably is compatible. I did have problems programming this remote at first until I realized that it works opposite to my current remote. That is the switches that were up on my remote needed to be down on this one and vise versa.

This remote pad came with our driveway gate opener about 12 years ago. Except for an occassional battery replacement every year or two and being exposed to the elements, it has worked without fail. After 12 years of reliable operation, a replacement was needed. I highly recommend this remote.

I installed this item on my 2007 Mini Cooper S, which does not have the built in garage door button option. This is better anyway since you don't have to take your hands off the steering wheel to open the garage door. I will say the range is not nearly what I thought it would be. It is similar to my old 9V garage door opener. It actually may be slightly less. The other issue is your neighbors look at you funny when you flash your headlights as you come down the street. I don't care, but this may bother others. Overall, this is a great product, and I wouldn't want to be without it.

I purchased this opener and installed it in about 2.5hrs. I had a slight advantage because I was able to utilize the safety sensors from my previous opener, thus saving a small amount of time with the new wiring. Unlike some other reviewers, I found the installation instructions very clear and easy to follow. In fact; most sections could be read once and the component installed without referring back to the manual. As another reviewer stated; it is a good idea to make sure you have all of the necessary tools on the included tools required list before starting, to avoid un-necessary interruptions once you get going.
