We purchased this item to put into a home we just bought. Among other things missing the previous owners took the garage door opener. So we shopped around and found this model. It was what we were looking for at the price we wanted to spend. I ordered the item and it was delivered on time. We then proceeded to call a company to install it for us. A local garage door company charged a reasonable price for installation. The only thing the installer said was an issue was the wires coming from the senors to the wall weren't long enough. We have been in the new house for two weeks now and have had no problems with the opener. This model is exactly what it states to be. It is functional and very fast. I couldn't find any compatible garage door opener at Lowes, Home Depot and Ace Hardware. I was frustrated every time I purchased the universal remote from these places and it didn't work, so I was always returning them. My neighbor recommended this Skylink on amazon, so I purchased this product. The price was reasonable, shipped in a timely manner and it's tiny. I highly recommend this product for any garage and it has capability to link to most manufacturer garage door opener. Very disappointed with Genie. The slide carriage is all worn out after only less than 4 years. Spent lots of time with their service department but they blamed all on my garage door (same door worked for over 20 years with a Chamberlain). Do not buy their products - you'll be very disappointed. It deserves one star - good use as a door stop.

It is nice that you have the option of using this in a wired or wireless configuration. In my case, wireless was the only way to go. Like other 'programmable' wireless remotes, I expected a little pain in programming this one. The instructions have you press a certain key sequence and hold a working remote close to the unit until it beeps. The manual says it takes a little while. I must be impatient because I held it there for a good long time and it never beeped. But I tried it again and held the transmit button down for a very long time and sure enough, it finally beeped.
