I agree with pretty much all of the reviews here. If you're looking for an incandescent-like experience with dimmable lights, you should look elsewhere since these _will_ flicker. If you keep your "dimmable" lights at full 99% of the time and just want something safe to put in those fixtures, these are a very good deal. They are reasonably small, so you'll be able to fit them in smaller fixtures, too.

I purchased 2 packs (4 bulbs) of ULA's "Dimmable" CFL's yesterday. Installed 3 of them yesterday and today 2 of them no longer work. This is unbelievable. "Lasts up to 7 years" the box says. These didn't last seven hours. They didn't cost much, but they would be a bad buy at any price.

I was ?? if this would really work and save money at the same time. I changed out all of my lights for this energy smart bulbs. First they provide the amount of light my old bulbs did AND the electric bill did go down...... what a pleasant surprise.... I purchased more to have just in case I need to replace any but I have been burning one bulb for more than 7 months none stop and it is still going strong. Very pleased with my purchase.

I have been trying to green our 100 year old home for years. Bulbs like this are the easy and obvious solution. They put out decent light, but it takes a few minutes for them to reach 100% brightness. For the first 30 seconds, this bulb puts out about 1/3 of the maximum brightness. This problem gets worse in the cold weather since I use these in an unheated garage. Once the bulb has "warmed up" it produces a very nice, bright light that to me is better than a standard incandescent bulb. I used one of these bulbs in my garage for 4 years before it needed replacement. That's at least 10 times longer than the standard incancesdents could last. The bulbs are quite large, as indicated in another review. However, I found that I got used to how they look and I like the fact that they produce great light with substantially less heat. The bigger problem is that one of the bulbs burned out after only 3 weeks of service and though they are guaranteed, the redemption rules are largely impractical so the guarantee is pretty much useless.
