I ordered a 12-back of these dimmable CFLs 9 months ago for an amazingly low $8.95 price. 2 of the 12 were DOA in the box, but I actually considered that ok for the amazing price. (Compare that to Home Depot's price of roughly the same for a single bulb!) These bulbs are wonderful! Bright, dimmable, and noisy only during low-light dimming, I think they're so good that I'm about to order some more! BTW, these work wonderfully with X10 light modules and produce no noise or flicker.

This bulb has the worst light I've seen in a CFL; it really is more like the terrible ones I remember from childhood. They must use only one phosphor, and now I know why they don't list temperature on the packaging. The light is a very stark white color. I thought I was going to have to abandon the lamp I purchased, and find one with a tinted shade or something, but then I simply tried another brand of CFL. The other brand was much warmer, equally bright, and didn't hurt my eyes and make everything an awful gray-bluish-green. I really got ripped off when I purchased this bulb for $10 and I'm just going to hope I can somehow return it. I PURCHASED THESE BULBS AS A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR A STANDARD 50 WATT HALOGEN BULBS AS THEY ARE ADVERTISED, BUT WHEN I RECEIVED THEM I NOTICED THE PACKAGE SAID THEY WERE EQUAL ONLY TO A 35 WATT BULB NOT THE 50 WATT AS STATED, 15 WATTS IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. On a conventional dimmer, they flicker when they're at low light levels. These might be okay as ordinary light bulbs, but they disappoint while dimming and can't be used at all with X-10 controllers.
