our LG steam washer is 7 months old and we have a bad musty mildew odor coming from the machine. It took me a while to realize this smell was from the washer but I found that the front door seal holds about a 1/2 cup of water after the cycle and that water stagnates and turns into black goo that smells really bad. In our old house we had kenmore HE3 machine and never had that problem and they did just as good a job or better. I feel the LG has a design flaw and for being top rated and costing $$$$ that this is unaceptable. I would not buy this machine again.

My wife and I bought this washer 3 months ago, along with its companion dryer the DLG5966g, for use in a new "kitchen laundry cubby" installation on a new ceramic tile floor. We had concerns about having a washer/dryer in our living area because of noise, but they have been totally unfounded. One room away from the living room and TV, we rarely even notice it working as it goes through its cycles. Our other concern was whether we would have problems with vibration and the washer wanting to "walk" during the extremely high speed spin cycle of these new front loaders. I'm getting ready to replace the door for the second time, and it's not even 3 years old. It stinks and it sounds like there's a rocket taking off every time it spins. To make things even more frustrating, it takes the matching dryer and hour and a half to dry one load. I bought this for it's compact size, but it was a terrible mistake.

Do not buy a Maytag frontload washer. Our $1000, top of the line Maytag washer froze up because a quarter slipped thru the filter system into the motor. The result was a $300 repair bill. To us, there is something wrong with a filtering system that would allow something as large as a quarter to slip thru. I guess a button could come off a piece of clothing next week, get into the motor and we would have the problem again. However, Maytag would not stand behind their product and cover this expense. The customer service managers were not very nice folks and could care less about this potential ongoing problem. A long time consumer of maytag products, I have purchased my last. Things have surely changed....in customer servcie as well as quality...with Maytag products.

This never worked. Out of the box the valve was broken, which causes the auto detergent loaders to not drain correctly and prevents the basin from filling completely. I get an error every time I the thing hits the rinse cycle and I have to pour water in through the detergent loader with a teapot. Maytag won't replace it, they'll only send a repair technician which took THREE WEEKS. I still have no working washer and I ordered it almost a month ago. What ever happened to the Maytag repair guy who never had anything to do because their products were so well made? A total farse, I tell ya. Stay far far FAR away from Maytag, and this product in particular.

There is a story behind my buying this washing machine. It isn't the best. The best was the 20+ MAYTAG we had before this new one. This one is great. It is quiet and runs well, we just miss our old one. It was part of the family.
