Tools & Hardware : Toro 38172 CCR Powerlite 325 Recoil Single Stage Gas Snowblower

I looked at MTD brand (Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Yard-Man, Yard
Machines, Bolens, McCulloch and White Outdoor) blowers and throwers. I have used John Deere and can't begin to tell you what a pain it is to push that big heavy thrower around, or what pains it caused later. Yes this Toro is narrow requiring more passes but using it doesn't' even seem like work so it doesn't really matter. For the price you can get into a low end MTD thrower but after asking the repair shop what they would buy of the two they said Toro because they are easy to repair and therefore cost less to repair. That makes sense because if I want to use a wider machine I can always use my old Toro. My old Toro is 27 years old but they still make parts for it. The only problem with that one is it uses too much gas.

I was glad to be able to find this vendor. The item was hard to locate at a fair price. It was the correct replacement item for my weed trimmer so it installed easily and I was back in business without any problem.

I am one of those "write the review only if it's bad" people, so here's the deal: I purchased 36 of the Toro Universal Impact Sprinkler-40 units as part of a large irrigation project this June. After lots of planning, trenching, and backaches I fired the system up to awe at the beauty of hassle-free watering. To my surprise and chagrin, I have not been able to enjoy the fruits of my labor, as every day I have had to fiddle with a head or two. One will get stuck on return, while another (a 360 degree uninterrupted cycle) will inexplicably stick. All told I will be replacing 5 of the 36 Toro heads I installed (probably with Rainbirds or Orbits) in an effort to achieve my goal. The bottom line is that a 15% failure rate is totally unacceptable and I DO NOT recommend using the Toro heads for ... Read More

I wasn't able to find a Toro female elbow for funny pipe anywhere in my neighborhood hardware/irrigation stores. Strangely enough Amazon carries the part, and it was shipped expeditiously from the original supplier. I was able to fix my irrigation system, purge it for the winter just before the weather turns too cold. Thank you Amazon and your network of suppliers.

As far as the product is concerned, Toro makes solid irrigation components and parts. No complains here!

This is the 2nd Model of Toro Valves I've used (2 Sets of 8). This Model was even worse than the first Toro model that I used, the body of which froze and fractured over winter even though they had been properly installed, drained and blown out. I paid Toro's higher than their competitor's price because I wanted a quality, trouble-free product. (My water pressure is about 100 psi; much lower than the valve's rating.) Out of 8 valves of this model, 3 diaphragms and 2 solenoids failed during the first season. To make matters worse, Toro will not supply repair parts or kits like their competition does. I refuse to ever again purchase any Toro sprinkler system or other lawn/landscaping equipment or product. I am now using totally problem-free Rainbird valves.

Tools & Hardware : TORO CO M/R IRRIGATION #53765 Ecx 4 Zone Timer

I bought a house with one of these recently and this Toro timer makes me crazy. It is just plain needlessly difficult to program.

Programming a sprinkler system should not be a big deal, but every time I want to modify a program, I have to bust out the owner's manual and figure it all out all over again.

One little gem with the programming (there are many) is when scrolling through the 24 hour clock, it starts out at an absurd snail's pace. Then all of a sudden it takes off at an absurd warp speed, zipping through the 24 hour cycles about 3 times per second!

This thing is just plain idiotic and I can't wait to replace it. Basically, this thing's primary task is to allow the user to program watering schedules and it fails miserably at the task. I can install ... Read More
