I installed one in our kitchen (in a recessed lighting can above our sink). Since the area the bulb is installed in is normally dark, we tend to leave the light on at all times. I initially bought this CFL for it's long life and energy savings, but while most R20 incandescent lamps I've tried last about 6 months in continuous operation, this model only lasted 2 weeks! After reading some reviews on this model (post-mortem), I found out that it is not recommended for recessed lighting applications like mine. What's worse is that the packaging did not mention this rather important fact. Oh well, maybe another model will fare better.

I bought 6-pack of Sylvania bulbs three months ago, and they burned out quickly and today I have to purchase new bulbs. The claim of 2000 hours is not even close. Although the price appears to be lowest vs other brands, given its failure rate, the cost is rather high for me. I need to check with my handy man to find out what other alternatives would fit into my recess lights. I will switch as soon as i find the right type since it will only be better than Sylvania.
