Received unit and was missing the end nozzle. Also trigger linkage not working correctly. Started and ran well (though not able to control the speed), comfortable to wear. Called Solo 800 number and talked to a technician -- VERY responsive --- they are shipping a replacement end nozzle and are sending UPS to pickup the unit to repair it in Newport VA (home office)and ship it back. Great service so far - will try and rereview the item performance once I get it back.

I bought the solo 425 for organic spraying of pests in my garden. It works great except for one small problem. The backpack straps that came with my solo had straight clips on them that fell off when the sprayer was full. A quick call to SOLO, informed me that the straight clips were crap and they sent me a new pair of redesigned straps right away. Great product great service from solo. I bought this model because a neighbor had one he had been using for 10 years!!! I hope mine lasts that long. Note: The 425 has a piston pump (for liquid additives), the 475 has a diaphragm pump for powdered and / or liquid additives. Make sure you get the one that you need. The only reason the pump did not get 5 stars was my strap problem.

This one-hand sprayer is well built, sturdy and smart, with all the features a sprayer could possibly have. It has a telescopic wand that allows you to adjust its length from 12" to 23". The nozzle is fully adjustable from direct jet to fine mist, and it is also orientable to any degree, so you can spray from any position to any spot. It has also a very useful drift shield that stops any leakage from the nozzle toward you. It features also an easy to use locking trigger. A lot of little details that makes your life easier. Very reasonable price compared to its quality. Recommended!

I have owned this sprayer for about a year now and the unit has clogged up somehow, even though I'm normally pretty careful to clean after each use. The problem is (as stated by another post) going online to read the instructions on how to take apart, check, clean, and replace parts is WAY too complicated. Maintenance should be limited to "unscrew this, check an o-ring washer and maybe replace, and that's it. If this product was sold to only MIT students it may be ok, or if I had an entire afternoon to attempt the tear down and rebuild it I could get it to work, but at the moment it gives me a headache just to look the instructions and try to decipher them.

My company ordered two of these sprayers to treat weeds, and cannot get the red lid off to clean the container. We have called a few dealers and used WD-40 to try to get the lids off, but to no avail. We will be returning all sprayers to the dealer.
