Plenty of torque, battery carries a good charge and since it comes with a second battery, I simply switch out the batteries at the end of each use. The battery charger hanges nicely on wall making for easy change outs and unlike other bit storage grips I've used the one on this drill actually holds the bit securely when not in use. I'm a very satisfied customer and this is well worth the price.

It cuts stuff alright, but it is difficult to get it to glide through material. The angle at which you hold the instrument must be just right or it binds. Initially bought it for box cutting, but reverted back to the blade. This thing was too slow and difficult on boxes. I also thought I got it for a great Amazon "today's special" price, but a similar price is available at other outlets. It is overpriced at sale price of $50. I'd give it a $25 value. Perhaps if I get to use it on other materials that are difficult to cut with my existing tools, I'll rate it higher.

Being that Craftsman no longer knows how to make a quality portable work bench, I recently purchased the Skil Model 3100-12 X Bench Workstation. I have never been a big fan of MDF (medium density fiberboard) fabricated table tops, but it seems every manufacturer is on the band wagon now. That includes Skil. Of all the benches that I have encountered the Skil X Bench is the most impressive. Durable and weighing in at almost 45 lbs its not for the Wheaties deficient. Working surface measures 53" x 23". The aluminum legs adjust in height from 24"to 34". The table folds in half for great portability and storage. One of its sweeter features is the cutting channel located dead center of the bench. Reading a few of the comments on this page, I am having a similar problem. I don't use the tool much, in the past year, I've only used it a couple times, but now, it's completely dead. The charger light is a solid green indicating a full charge...but nothing, tool is completely dead. The couple times I used it though for some simple jobs around the house, it was a cool tool and very handy...just very disappointed that the tool is now DOA for no apparent reason, still looks like brand new and there is no reason for it NOT to work. (ie abuse). Wouldn't mind having another one, if I could get a better gaurantee that it would work for more than a few turns. But, don't see that happening, so will not buy again. NP

I bought this a year ago. My main criteria: a handy, inexpensive cordless household screwdriver that doesn't have to be thrown out because a NiCad battery gives out. The Skil iXO is a no-frills product, but it meets these criteria perfectly. I keep the case in the kitchen, where I can grab it immediately without searching for my toolbox in a cluttered garage. I don't use it often, but after a year without a single recharge, this little gem is still going strong!

My new Skil SHD77M arrived. I heard that there was a problem of the base plate not being flat, but assumed Skil had fixed that. Mine is way out of flat! The whole saw rocks as you place it on the work piece. So, back she goes. What a pain.

I purchased the replacement battery for my electric screwdriver after I tried to charge a defective original battery (it burned out the charger,too). The new charger and battery work fine, but you should be aware that a longer than three hour charge time probably isn't a good thing, and it's a good thing to check the battery with a voltage meter after putting on the charger for a minute. If it shows a voltage (according to the instructions) it's O.K., but if it doesn't, throw it away. So, after using the first battery and charger for a number of years, I learned something, and bought two rechargable batteries for the future. So far, everything's working fine.

What can I state - it's a rechargeable battery, and it works. It would be nice if there was a standard type that was used for all tools, e,g., I can use a D cell in a flashlight or radio, but I can't use a Skil battery with a DeWalt.
