We gave this a try for about a month. We found the Crank Crate cumbersome and heavy. It also seized up in cold weather so we would not recommend this product. Our neighbors have one where the hose is exposed and is on substantial wheels - a much better design for mobility.

I bought this no-crank hose reel at Home Depot because I liked it's many features. After trying to hook it up properly, I'm going to return it immediately. This is a good idea very poorly executed. The hose connection is made of plastic and is positioned in such a way that it is very difficult to connect the hose to the reel. Worse yet, the connection for the hose is plastic and easily stripped! Those two factors combined make for a leaky mess. After I return this one, I hope to find a similar style hose reel with proper metal connections and will look much more closely for well positioned connectors. I would definitely not recommend this product, especially at the price!

I bought one of the 150ft models and it seemed to work well. About a week later I bought a hundred footer for the other side of the house. About a week after that a tooth broke off one of the gears on the first one (150ft)now it makes a clunking sound when I reel it in. I noticed I seemed to have low pressure on the side of the house I installed the 2nd reel(100ft model). I just thought It was low pressure for some reason a certain times of the day. Today it was so bad It wouldn't even powder my sprinkler. So I by-passed the reel and guess what, it's the hose reel. I checked the in and out hose for kinks but found nothing wrong. These things are junk! The reason I payed over a hundred bucks for these is because I have such a bad back. I'd be better of reeling my hoses in manually then continually ... Read More

It's great not having to stand on my head to rewind the hose. The exterior looks very classy in my courtyard. The first time I put it in the rewind mode it almost startled me, what a Hoot. My kids actually argue over who gets to put the hose away, Now that... is a definate recommendation!

So I buy this for the wife. She wants an outside area for planting and cleaning. If you do not release the pressure from the hose prior to moving the switch to faucet, the pressure will come up through the sink drain. The wife was soaked. IT WAS FUNNY. OK, all kidding aside. They should really make a disclaimer about this because it will squirt you in the eyes. This could cause irritation. Not permanent damage. Other than that, it serves a purpose. One of the legs was cracked from shipping and I had to "fix" it. Did not want to ship the whole thing back for an exchanged.

The product was everything I expected, But I was deceived about the shipping cost and delivery date... 1st The promotion stated "order within a certain (time) and there would not be any additional shipping charges"... I did order within that time required but was charged additional... 2nd The product was promised by a certain date... On that date a different date was posted, this happened 3 times and I didn't receive the item many weeks later...

I've owned one of these No Crank units for many years, from when they used to be called Reel Smart. The feature they all have in common regardless of price is the water powered rewind system, which sounds clever at first, but what they DON'T tell you is that the water that does the cranking is simultaneously exhausted out the side of the unit through a short hose. And the unit is not particularly fast or strong, so if it takes, say, 60 seconds to fully rewind a hose you can expect to have a nice big MUD PUDDLE all around the reel. And, the water piston engine tends to wear out over time - mine did. I would recommend a hand crank reel mounted rather high up on a wheeled hand cart, so you can wheel the whole thing to where you want and don't have to bend over and strain your back to crank it. ... I bought this for my dad for Father's Day. He absolutely loves it because after he waters the lawn, it saves him the time/energy winding it back up. Just a warning that the wind-up process is pretty slow - not like a retractable hair-dryer cord or anything - but very easy/effective! A definite buy for anyone who doesn't love watering.

Product v.poorly made. 2 plastic stakes intended to hold it to ground both snapped out of box after less than 10' of hosepipe retracted. In addition all screws on spigots leak severely. This is unusable
