It was my first experience with any kind of chainsaw and I have survived it so far. Be sure to read the instructions. Assembly was easy enough. The adjustable pole is a good feature. You will need some 30 or 40 weight oil before using it and also a good outdoor extension cord. I found the instructions on adjusting the chain confusing.

I do not ofter leave a review, but in this case I wanted to leave one. I concider myself to be a pro when it comes to tools and can give them a run for the money even on a first try. Reviewers have mentioned burned up motors and too hard to build, this saw was a cinch to build, and if they used the oil, motors and chains are not burning up for a long time. For an 8 amp motor and the 14" chain it can cut almost as well as any midrange gas and most high end electric chain saws. Kickback was a minimum and I was able to cut up limbs upto 9" round and remove 500 sqft of thick brush in no time. Even as a saw for its price its better to own one of these then to rent one for a small job.

A few years ago one of our large mature honey locust trees (50'+ tall) fell onto our house during a pretty ferocious windstorm. Unfortunately for us we didn't own a chainsaw, but our neighbor had this little monster and boy was it a lifesaver! We were outside cutting the tree off the house for a good six hours straight and this thing didn't slowdown the least bit. Not once did it bog down or couldn't make it through the hard wood of the locust. The size of the saw was perfect, compact enough to get into a lot of tight spots, but large enough for the big branches. Pros: I've owned and operated this item for about 1 month now, doing light trimming around my yard. Solidly designed and put together. Does not feel cheap. Lightweight and very adjustable so it is comfortable to operate. Easy to assemble, takes about 5 minutes max of initial assembly to be ready to go. Cons: Battery only seems to last about 20 - 25 minutes per charge. It would be nice if it was longer.

I usually spend about $300.00 a year for a tree trimming service to prune shape our trees. Or I figured it was about $5.00 per branch/limb they cut. They used a pole chain saw like this. When I saw this, I thought to myself. For the price I'll try it. If it doesn't work I'll send it back and just call the tree trimming service again.
