You may not need it now, but when you do, it's too late if you don't already have one. A recent hurricane caused a water leak at my home. Shutting off the water without the proper tools can be a messy, knuckle busting affair. Throw in a swarm of hungry mosquitoes coming out of the meter hole and you have an experience you will not soon forget. A gas leak would have been much worse. Should be standard issue with every house.

I have two of these, and have used them one season. The programming is extremely easy to use and gives you enough options -- much simpler than the some of the other digital ones. The easy programming is a big plus if you are establishing a lawn and need to start with a lot of watering and then reduce it over time. The batteries are very easy to change ... and you should plan to run through a set of 3 AA batteries about every six weeks if you have the valves working daily. There is a low-battery indicator to let you know when they need to be changed. Overall, ease-of-use is a huge plus on this item. Previous reviewers have noted my complaints--it stops turning after a short period (for me a matter of minutes). Requires strong water pressure to get it to start moving. Seeds of Change warehouse sale page offers this item for much less.

The product works well so far. I had to call customer service while programming it. I had no problem reaching a technician who was quickly able to tell me what step I had missed. Received item promptly. Would recommend it.

We like all three spray nozzles. They allow for good spray pattern adjustment. They are also relatively lightweight.

It works well and it's not that hard to program. However, after only about a month one of the digits on the LCD display died so it's a little tricky, but not impossible to program.
