I gave my husband the Mantis 2-cycle Tiller/Cultivator for Father's Day this year. I had seen a commercial years ago for the Mantis Tiller. I wanted one for so long. Well, finally I thought, "My husband needs help with our yard, maybe this can do the trick" So I ordered the Mantis from Amazon. When he opened the package he said, "Oh, boy, parts to put together!" I told him that I thought he would like it and he proceeded to put it together. It didn't take very long. He said thanks and put it outside. Well, I thought to myself, "I guess I was wrong, he didn't like it" Well, the next weekend he got going on the back yard, tilling. These are pretty good at making it easier to get the roots and tangles out of the tines. They aren't as good at keeping them from getting there in the first place. I don't think there is a solution for that - it's just the nature of rotary tines and long, tough, fibrous roots. I think their main value is that they keep roots from becoming tightly wound around the tine shaft and seals that protect the transmission.

I bought it for a month now and love it. It's powerful and quiet. I've used it to till, remove weeds and dig holes for planting. The kick stand was a pain in the ... to install. Mantis should redesign it or perhaps it should come pre-attached to the handles.

I know it's just a piece of tempered steel with a dipped in plasticote handle but it's the perfect piece. It really makes digging out tangles easier. I have owned Mantis Tillers for nearly twenty years and just got a detangler a month or so ago. What a difference! Don't buy the tiller without buying this!

It's hard to tell if this product is working. I received it as ordered applied it as directed to just one side of the compost barrel, it doesn't seem any different than the other side after 3 weeks.

I ordered this from amazon as I do purchase frequently and usually have good results. Not so with this item. It was used once, maybe twice, when it stopped working: the needle wouldn't move off of 140F. With some experimenting, I found that when the probe was twisted, the needle would move proportionately. Somehow I don't think that's supposed to work in that fashion. There are other compost thermometers out there; I think amazon may want to consider carrying the REOTemp brand insted of this.

I tried looking for these Mantis Tiller tines on Ebay, but I found the best price for them at Amazon. Amazon certainly beat the prices that Mantis charges. They quickly install on the tiller using the cotter pins that come with the tines. I was up and running in five minutes.

The product works fine. It was easy to put together. Not sure it is made for the long run as many of the parts are plastic. However, it does a pretty good job. The gauge is a little too low even when you put it at it's highest. Other than that I think you are paying a lot of money because it is new technology. If you can, wait until the price comes down. If you can't, I highly recommend this for a single woman because it is the lightest of all the electric lawn mowers.

Best tiller I have ever owned. Very light and very powerful. Starts on first pull. Very easy to use. I would recommend this tiller to anyone with a vegtable garden or flower garden.
