Everything I expected from Makita, so far. The driver came with two fully charged batteries, and in great condition for a factory reconditioned product. It is light and powerful, and the LED worklight is a nice addition. The compact size is very handy when working in tight quarters. The chuck covering is a little soft, and it got very scuffed up and is rough from doing some close work to a screw head. At least it looks used, now. The case is cheap and clunky, but I will be using a tool bag for storage and transportation. The biggest annoyance with this unit is the lack of on-board driver storage. I almost always have the phillips head bit in the chuck, anyway, but I was surprised to see there was no where to store even one bit on the body of the driver. At the ... Read More

I,ve owned several cordless drills and impact drivers in the past but none of them can compare to these tools. The power to weight ratio is nothing short of amazing. I can use the tools for long periods of time without the fatigue that I always experienced with my older tools. Lots of power and quick recovery time for recharging. Great, great tools.

These batteries are the fastest charging cordless tool batteries I've ever used and they will put in a full day's work and then some before you have to recharge them. The 3.0 Amp Hour batteries take about 35-40 minutes to charge (there are 1.8Ah batteries for the drills that take less than 20 minutes!) if completely depleted and they're ready to take up again right where they left off! As some other reviews have mentioned, the only down side to them is there's very little warning when they do run out of juice, but seen from another point of view, they do keep running strong up to the last minute. Fits great in the hand and surprisingly lightweight, well balanced. I do like the included strap for hands free operation; with the swivel head you can point it where you need it while it is slung over your shoulder. For those who complained about the strap--don't attach it. Battery compatibility was not a problem either. My compact 18V 1.5 Ah Li-ion battery fit perfectly with no need to punch out an insert. It uses the A-90261 bulb, which is described as a Xenon bulb on Makita's web site. It produces an amazing amount of light. For $18.25 what a good value. Replacement bulbs are reasonable, $4.79 with free shipping from Northern Tool. Too soon to need bulbs, but good idea to be prepared. They will probably break if the flashlight is jarred or dropped during use.

Those reviews convinced me to buy it to replace a very well worn and used up Panasonic/Milwaukee 3.2 volt stick driver. This radio severly distorts the music if the volumn is higher than 6 on on the volume. I have a 20 year old York boom box that cost less than $60 that still has better sound. This is the worst Makita product that I have owned.I have been using Makita tools for about 20 years and am still using my first cordless drill. I am considering sending it back to the Corporate Offices but I do not belive that they would care about the lack of quality in their products as they are making these in China now.Apparently brand loyalty no longer is a concern to the powers that run Makita.

I love this set. Plenty of power, lighter than my bosch 14.4v set. Quick charge. Long life batteries(way longer than my bosch set). All the tools are real, & solid. Lith-ion batteries are light & powerful(easily drives 10" GRK fasteners) This has worked great for me. I'm a builder & use it daily. No problems yet(1 yr). I added the 6 1/4 skill saw & love that too. I do alot of early onsite(before powers in) work. Drain pipe, underslab plumbing, footing pads...and alot of punchlist, going somewhere to do a few little things w/ min. set up. This works great for that too. This has been the best cordless set I've ever owned.
