After 15 years of service, my Liftmaster garage door opener finally failed. It started out only lifting the door about half way, then the gear stripped out. I didn't feel like dropping $$$ on a new opener, so I found this kit online. If you are up for the task, this kit does the job well. The instructions are pretty good although not perfect. The only difficult part is removing the roller pins on the main drive shaft and the collar on the worm gear. Make sure you have a punch to remove the pin although I used a nail effectively. If you're not mechanically inclined or don't have the tools, you may get frustrated. After installation, you'll need to tinker with the setting on the door to get it to open and close properly. Total repair time was about 1.5 hrs.

This was meant as a replacement for a garage opener of the same type that was 10 years old. Replacement was exactly like original. Was easily programmed.

I had searched locally for replacement for my failed unit in town at Home Depot and Lowes, and all they carried were GENIE products. I was mistakingly told I could use the GENIE UNIVERSAL product at Home Depot, but this is incorrect...glad I found this, as it was a direct replacement of the unit I had, set up took all of 10 minutes, and works great now (in fact, it is probably better than the one I replaced, since that one had a very cheap 'connector' for the wire to attach to the units, that would occasionally vibrate loose. This unit has direct wiring into them...Much better !

I bought three of these to use with my new craftsman 315 MHz garage door opener. Be aware of what MHz you need, sears changed the MHz and my old openers no longer worked. Found these on amazon and they work great! Instantly connected and have worked flawlessly.

Certain Liftmaster garage door openers have a plastic gear that is prone to fail after a few years. I had one of those, the 1155. The symptom? You press the button, you can hear the motor running but the chain (connected to the door) doesn't move. When you take the cover off the garage door opener, you can see that it's stripped and white plastic shavings are everywhere. I asked the local garage door repair company how much they'd charge to replace the gears. About $200. They even wanted $56 for this gear and sprocket set alone. So I ordered it from Sanford and Son for about $30 (which includes shipping). It arrived quickly with a set of well-written and well-illustrated instructions. The 3 button remote worked great! All you have to do is press the orange "learn" button on the motor unit and within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the hand-held remote. Very easy to do!

I moved into a house that had a sears unit but didn't come with any openers. I purchased 2 of these & they work great! They have good distance and I haven't had any problems. If you're in the market, these would be a trustworthy purchase.
