I can't figure out why I wasted my time trying to fix the old junker, I don't know why I trawled craigslist looking for second hand mowers and I don't know why I thought I would luck out on a good bargain Mower (you know the brands). Eventually after touring 3 Box stores I went to professional Mower shop to ask for advise - they steered me in direstion of the Lawn Boy as good value for money and worth the premium over lesser mowers. I am so glad I took their advise cos I love this mower, and I venture you will too if - you want a great looking lawn, great mower design, easy handling, and the option to repair vs replace. Bought this unit (10696) to replace an old Lawnboy mower that served me well for 15 years. Found it at Amazon at a great price. After reading past reviews of shipping problems, I hesitated to buy it online, but still took the risk because the nearest lawnboy retailer was quite a drive away. Delivery was fast; however, it was obvious the unit was banged up. There were scratches on the frame. The rear wheels were rubbing against the mower body. I thought it was a manufacturing problem so I brought it to the local service center. Found out that the rear wheel axle was bent, most likely during shipping. The service center fixed the problem for free. The bottle of engine oil and spare fuse were missing from the package. I finally got to use the mower a week after delivery. I bought the Lawnboy Model #10685 from Home Depot in the fall of 2006 for $350.00, been using it for about two years without any problems.

If you are looking for a mower to get in your regular cardio workout, this is not the mower for you. This mower is easy to use and the Sens-a-Speed works great. I did jog with the mower the other day, and the Lawn-Boy did keep up with my stride, so I guess you can workout with it if you want. This is the second Lawn-Boy I have purchased in 4 months(my first one was stolen) and I am glad I upgraded to the Blade Control 10697 model. My first Lawn-boy was model 10685. I paid less for this model at Amazon than the first one! The BCS is great when you have to stop mowing to remove an object from your path. It is also great when you have to empty the bag and not have to restart the engine every time.
