I have an extremely long and steep driveway -- so steep that the plow attachment on my lawn tractor is useless (once I plow down the driveway, I can't get the tractor back up, since the tractor plow leaves a thin layer of snow, which the tractor can't overcome even with wheel weights and chains). So two seasons ago I bought one of these, and found that I could clear the driveway more quickly and effectively than with my tractor! This is one tough snow shovel. It's heavy gauge steel with a strong wood handle. But, it's really only good for pushing snow around. Use this to push the snow along concrete or asphalt and then if you need to pile snow up, use something else. My last driveway was up against the house and I shared it with the next door neighbor. I had to push most snow the length of the house before I could pile it up. This saved a lot of time. On my new drive I can just push the snow off to each side - a task this shovel is ideal for. I use two shovels; this one to push the snow around and an aluminum "feed and grain" style shovel to move piles. This is a good product. They used to handle them at ACE Hardware, but no longer. The only problem I had is that when the product arrived, the delivery person was simply holding the handle through the top of the shipping box, with the box completely open and not useful at all. They had just kept them together in order to determine the ship to address.

So, is it supposed to be three sections or one? I purchased this item from Crazy Daves Tool Shed and only received one. The product description says "3 Sections Of 60", Total Length 16' 3-3/8". I paid $20.09 total with shipping for just one 60" section of handle. I called Crazy Daves about this. They said Amazon made a mistake in the product description. So, at $12.41 each x 3 = $37.23 plus shipping to get three sections? You can get the whole roof rake for $38.79 (item GPRR24)! That's ridiculous. Buyer beware, this is a rip off.

When I was a kid, my dad had this big, tall snow shovel with a gold-toned metal blade. I remember trying to use it a few times, but it was just too tall for me, but the interesting thing was that it was extremely light weight. Many years later when I started doing property care, I was shopping for a snow shovel that I didn't have to bend over half way to the ground to use, and I found the same thing at a hardware store, only with a red blade. I bought it. I used it for a number of years, and it was perfect with a fairly large blade (but not too big) which was made of aluminum. It was quite tough, and useful. But then it got "lost" by someone, so I went looking for another. All the stores have these whiz-bang plastic shovels and "back-savers" with bent handles, but they all require bending ... Read More
