This is a great filter for my older Frigidaire model refrigerator. It is easy to replace and the water tastes great. You will find it more expensive at other sites especially when you have to add in shipping for other sites.

I was a victim of the Brita "Drink Responsibly" advertising campaign (summer 2008) and I bought the pitcher before I read the reviews here. Reading these (1 star) reviews allowed me to look for the problems described and I have not experienced them. I did not note a leaky top, although this may have been because I was being careful thanks to K.M. aka Squishy's review. I was more concerned about the spout cover problem which I read in a couple of reviews, but I discovered (no pun intended)that the spout cover "floats," that is if you just pour the pitcher the cover lifts and water comes out. I love the taste of the water filtered through this pitcher. We've stopped buying bottled water since we got it. But the pitcher design is HORRIBLE. The part of the lid that fits into the pitcher is is maybe a couple of millimeters tall so it barely stays on. When you the reservoir is filled to near the top and you tilt the pitcher even slightly backwards, water leaks into the two-part handle and down the bottom. The flap that covers the spout does not always open easily and it's very easy to dump the top and spill water all over the place. 5 stars for taste, only 1 star for the horrible design. It's hard to believe that Brita didn't do any product testing before putting this on the market.

This product works well to start but the plastic does cheapen it. I wish it was all metal. Mine hasn't broken or cracked but I feel like I need to be very delicate with it.

the rubber piece for making a little fountain broke off quickly and after 1 month the thing just kept falling off my sink over and over . Regardless of those things it limits the ammount of space you have in your sink since it faces downward. Instead of getting clean hands I was getting them more dirty by rubbing them all over the sink while trying wash them in the little space I had left. Look at filters tha mount on top of the faucet and do not face downward

I have had two of these things. Both had started to badly leak after 4 months (tops). Plus very difficult to get this thing on. Not very well made (or perhaps they are made to breakdown quickly - who knows). Avoid at all costs.
