My family and I have been using Brita water filters for close to twenty years now and would swear by them. We started with a gallon filter unit that we filled with water and then used as needed. And we did use it for all our drinking and cooking needs. Now we have a filter build right into our refrigerator and it is even more convent to get a cold drink of water. The replacement filter we just got is great. You just twist out the old filter and twist in the new one, run the water until the air is out of the system plus a gallon or so and it ready. These filter do a great job cleaning the water and it tastes clear and cold. I highly recommend them.

I ordered Brita GERF-1000 that replaces my GE-MWF filter. I was saving about 5 dollars. I have a GE Profile refrigerator, about 4 years old. This filter does not work. No water flow at all. I contactacted filtersfast.com and they refunded product plus shipping without question. I reordered a GE-MWF filter immediately. I highly recommend buying through filtersfast.com. Just don't order a Brita filter as a replacement. I suspect some GE refrigerators are different and the Brita works. There are a few postings on Amazon where others were having the same problem as I was having.

We live in the so called "boonies" and have well water. I have installed water filters for drinking under our sink in our fridge etc....they just dont cut it. The water tastes strange....so I wanted to try something to let us get great tasting water and help the environment by not buying water bottles..... Brita is the answer. This jug has a sensor on top that will remind you to change the filter. That is one of the best features....another thing I dont have to worry about or remember until its time. The water tastes perfect to me in our home now and I have no hesitation in recommending this item.

This really does a great job of improving the taste of tap water. And it is saving me a mint on bottled water, not to mention saving the planet from a bunch more plastic bottles.

The first 3 or 4 weeks were great the product worked great, saving me a ton of money on bottled water and space in the fridge from the gallon model. I found the model tasted alot less charcoal like than the gallon model. But unfortunately after 3 or 4 weeks the light turned yellow which is fine because we drink alot of water and I didn't expect it to last long but the water that would come out would smell like rotten eggs, now I know Florida water is not the best but my tap water smells fine. I shouldn't have to run my water for 5 minutes before pouring a glass. Also the model is a bit bulky making it harder to do dishes. I have two Brita pitchers this one and older model that does not have filter indicator, is square shaped and has one piece lid as opposed to two. Both fit into the fridge nicely and filter tap water adequately to my taste. The only reason I like the old pitcher better is that the flap never gets stuck when you try to pour water out. With this pitcher it occasionally gets stuck and water spills all over the place. At first I though it was a matter of not cleaning the spout properly but it happens even after the pitcher has just been washed. The filter change indicator is nice little feature that reminds me to change the filters on both pitchers. In case you are considering one of those in-fridge models I'd advice against it. More than the product being a good product, the seller is better. I had so many problems with Fed-ex that I didn't get the product until weeks later and there was so much drama. But the company was very nice and understanding.

Works fine, the only difference is a longer startup time (initial water filling) as other users mentioned, but maybe it's subjective.

The pitcher was not suitable for me, too slow and small fridge with no room. This turned out to be the answer for removing that awful chlorine/aquarium smell/taste of our municipal water. It worked great for about 5 weeks. Then the light started blinking red. No way it needed a cartridge so soon but I dutifully complied (bought 4 replacement cartridges) felt it was still cheaper, more environmentally friendly than lugging bottled water. This last spring after refilling disposable Dasani bottles six or more times before discarding, I broke down and bought a much nicer Nalgene bottle to join the throngs of ridiculously brand-loyal outdoor enthusiasts and people who want other people to believe they are outdoor enthusiasts. Since then, I have found a disturbing trait of the Brita on-tap filter. It strips chlorine out of Chicago tap water all TOO well. I used to depend on that bleachy pool-fresh scent to keep away the stale you-need-to-wash-your-bottle smell. So while some may call the water purified or even suggest that it does better for my personal hygiene, I prefer to let the chemicals in my tap water do my work for me.
