I live in Florida and the water in my town smells and taste bad. Using the Brita filter is the remedy. The water smells and taste better when I use the Brita filter.

I have been using this for 4 months now and am very pleased with it. I'm not spending $15-$20/mo for bottled water and contributing to the landfill. Although the water tastes fine to us now, it took us a few days to get used to it; it definitely didn't taste like bottled water. Also, I was lucky to notice the teeny fine print stating not to use water over 75 degrees. Our "cold" tap water in the summer here in the desert is much warmer than that. So I've had to keep a separate bottle of tap water chilling in the fridge to use in the Brita pitcher. I just replaced my faucet filter (a known competitor) with the Brita AquaView. I am much happier with the way this unit mounts to the faucet and operates between regular, spray, and filtered water. The replacement filters are easy to install, and the filters appear to be quite effective, based on the taste of the water (and the specs on the package).

For years I have used faucet water filters. I will not drink water from the faucet unless I have one on. Even though my water company claims to have some of the best tasting clean water in the nation, I still use filters. It's better to be safe than sorry. The water has no chlorine smell or taste to it. Brita is the only company I will buy water filters from. I would have given it five stars, but realistically speaking, I don't believe any water filter can rid the water of all unhealthy contaminants.

I love the flavor of the water and the ease of use but the cover needs to be tighter. If all the water hasn't been filtered through and you go to pour through the spout, the cap comes off and a mess ensues.

I ordered Brita GERF-1000 that replaces my GE-MWF filter. I was saving about 5 dollars. I have a GE Profile refrigerator, about 4 years old. This filter does not work. No water flow at all. I contactacted filtersfast.com and they refunded product plus shipping without question. I reordered a GE-MWF filter immediately. I highly recommend buying through filtersfast.com. Just don't order a Brita filter as a replacement. I suspect some GE refrigerators are different and the Brita works. There are a few postings on Amazon where others were having the same problem as I was having.
