3.Bean or Weed Hook from: Ames Co.
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Tools & Hardware : Bean or Weed Hook

This is the best weed tool available. I used one as a kid many years ago walking beans. It is light weight, sharp (and can be sharpened if necessary), and has a handle long enough so that you don't have to bend over to hook the weeds. Highly recommended.

4.Superlight Lift Rite Aluminum Snow Shovel (1641200) from: Ames Co

Tools & Hardware : Superlight Lift Rite Aluminum Snow Shovel (1641200)

I haven't used this shovel myself, but my 14-year-old son enjoyed using it in the winter of 2007-2008. Because the blade is aluminum, it's not only light in weight, but I also expect it to be more durable than shovels I've used in the past (which had polycarbonate blades, and tended to crack after a while). The ergonomic handle helps prevent back strain.

Tools & Hardware : True Temper Floral Scuffle Hoe (1845500)

I purchased this for my father-in-law who is a Master Gardener and worked for the USDA for many, many years. He uses the hoe in his Master Gardener training classes to demonstrate to attendants a method of far less intrusive weeding than the traditional hoe which was originally displayed for this entry. The flat blade allows the user to lay the tool on the surface and slide it back and forth to remove weeds rather than an up & down motion which can be damaging to the surrounding plants if the target is missed. The image originally displayed depicts a traditional hoe. I have submitted an additional image which accurately depicts the implement.
