This is not a precision instrument. Use it for rough estimates only. It is good for what all of the other 9 reviewers used it for, however, it can be off as much as a half inch. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my unit, other than I get varying measurements. If the measurements were at least consistent, then it wouldn't matter what the numbers were, but I measured the same wall 6 times and got 6 different results. Like I said, if you are just hanging shelves or pictures and want them evenly spaced, or even if you want to find the center of the ceiling, this unit will work as long as you don't mind that it will be a little off. If you are making the shelves yourself, use a tape measurer.

I am a precision freak when I build things or hang things, so I got this for only $14 at my local Menards. I needed to hang a span of pictures across a wall. I made two pre-leveled marks on the wall, then lined up this laser line's "zero marks" with my marks. I also eye-balled the bubble in the Strait-Line for level (there is a lot of room for error though). I turn on the laser and it seems to be O.K., but I can tell just by looking at it that the laser is not level. Just to double-check, I place my other standard bubble level on the line and correctly verify that the laser is NOT level. It turns out that within 2-4 ft. from the Strait-Line the laser is true. It works great but when I first got it I had some trouble putting the blade in. You need a screwdriver to open the case, take out one of the blades and put it in. A cheaper one might be preferable for some people.

This Vender (Workshop Tools) sent wrong item, Sent a lesser like item that cost $7.97 and charged me $19.99, How do I know, Vender did not bother removing sale tag marked $7.97, To add insult to in injury, Item was shipped in a damaged box, US Post office had marked box Damaged when received. Buyer Beware. I got ripped off.

Its very accurate and simple to use, great for those times when you need an accurate measurement but you dont have someone to hold the end of the tape for you.

These blades are top notch and worth every penny. I'm being forced to return my 100-pack because Amazon sent me older packaging and it was NOT the easy dispenser one I ordered; the package received was similar to the 70-pack version. A prompt replacement is on its way; hopefully, that'll be what is pictured on the website or I'll return again and skip it. The container was even partially opened on one side, as if it had been around awhile.
