Very good trimmer and it sure beats trimming with hand shears. However in dense brush it is very easy to get the cord in a position where it will be cut. I also found that cuts of dense growth near the ground should be made from the ground up to avoid dulling the blades by stiking the ground. I recommend the 18 inch or longer model.

I have been using the 17" hedge trimmer for couple of years. The 17" hedge trimmer can only trim branches up to 3/8" and this is a very annoying limitation. This 24" is far more better and powerful. First, the longer trimmer length indeed reduces the trimming time. Secondly, it easily cuts through 1/2" branches. For 3/4" branches, it takes a little while, but it still cuts them through (just hold the trimmer steady). Finally, it's still pretty light for long holding. Overall, this product fits my expectation very well. The product arrives with manufacturer's original box. That box does not hold up well during the shipment. Luckily, the trimmer itself does not get damaged. But I take 1 point out for that.

I bought this hedge trimmer for my Mother... she is in her 60s. The same day she got it,she was turning 4' hedges into 2' ones, according to her "it has a nice weight" not too heavy not too light. If we had more Hedges she would still be out there. In all it came down to three things, 1) Weight 2)Motor Amperage 3) Cost. For a tool that is not to be used very often, it was a decent purchase.

Great for heavy work or regular square hedges, a little large for detail work (if you are trying to trim your bushes into circus animals).

Loved the original "single feed" Hedgehog. The "twin feed" is a disaster. I spent almost as much time fiddling with the "automatic" feed as I do trimming. Line continuously jammed up motor. After 6 months, it died. I won't be buying another. Extremely poorly designed spooling. Not recommended.
