I have been very happy with the purchase of this socket set. First, I will tell you that I use it for DIY projects around the house. I am not hard on my tools and do not use them on a daily basis. What I was looking for was a quality set at a decent price, and one that would have pretty much every socket and accessory I may need. This fit the bill perfectly. I know the black finish will seem gimmicky to the true professional, but I like them. I will agree with another reviewer that the case holds the sockets very well - perhaps too well - they are sometimes difficult to remove. I do renovations of old homes and don't come across bolts very often so I don't like to keep a whole socket set cluttering up my tool bag or truck. However, I do come across them occasionally and have found this "universal" socket wrench to handle virtually every situation in one handy little tool that has earned a spot in my tool bag. Removing a wrought iron railing the other day, one of my carpenters asked if I had a socket set to remove the bolts holding the railing to the brick, and I handed him this. He looked at it suspiciously but tried using it and now he wants one. They are as well made, clean & finished as one would expect from the brand name. I bought them because of the price - I must admit -- but the weight & quality has more than surprised me. My only real big job with them was driving about sixty ¾ inch lags - all 6 & 8 inches along with nuts on some heavy carriage bolts. The two bits I used look like they were never used. I was so impressed that I went out and bought the standard set. You can spend 2, 3 or 10 times the $ if you want. May be these wouldn't hold up in a "full time" mechanic's tool box, but they're as good as 99 out of 100 average Joes would ever need.

Very disappointed in this - sadly, I probably paid about what it's worth. The rachet broke after two uses. The driver broke after using it once with a wrench. Sometimes you just can't go with the no-names - especially when you are buying tools.

I went over to a friends house to work on my truck, he had a newly built and stocked garage so he had all the cool tools I wish I had. While under the truck trying to get at a oddly positioned bolt I asked him for a 14mm wrench, he hands me this weird floppy thing. I ask him what the heck is this and he says just try it. I look at in the light of the trouble light stick my finger in the box end and turn it...OH, this looks cool. I put it on the bolt and it fits right on, the flexible head allowed me to move the wrench without banging up my knuckles and the ratcheting....well it was a beautiful thing. The sockets work fantastic. I had several lug nuts on my car that were over-tightened when new tires were installed. When I tried to remove them to rotate my tires they completely rounded over. I used Grip-Tite 3/4" deep socket and wratchet handle to try to remove the lug nuts. The wratchet handle was not strong enough. It kept slipping. The drive size of the Grip-Tite sockets is 3/8",so I tried using a 3/8" drive breaker-bar(not included in the set). There simply was not enough leverage to loosen the lug nuts. I then used an adapter drive (3/8" to 1/2"drive)(not included in the set)in order to use my 1/2" drive breaker bar. This worked fantastic. I got all the lug nuts off easily.
