The best magnetic stud finder I was able to find and it really works to narrow in exactly where the wall or ceiling stud is hidden behind that sheet rock being held in place with either sheet rock nails or sheet rock screws. A really great product.

Shipped on time as promised. Took it to work (volunteer church construction) the next day. It is being used to install suspended ceiling. It can be hung on drywall with its unique pin device making it easy to layout the established height. I am very pleased with the product and its price.

This is not a precision instrument. Use it for rough estimates only. It is good for what all of the other 9 reviewers used it for, however, it can be off as much as a half inch. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my unit, other than I get varying measurements. If the measurements were at least consistent, then it wouldn't matter what the numbers were, but I measured the same wall 6 times and got 6 different results. Like I said, if you are just hanging shelves or pictures and want them evenly spaced, or even if you want to find the center of the ceiling, this unit will work as long as you don't mind that it will be a little off. If you are making the shelves yourself, use a tape measurer.

I bought this in frustration after trying to accurately measure several rooms of my house with a steel tape. Besides furniture being in the way, I found that my numbers weren't adding up with the tape if I measured the same distance two ways like going around the room or subtracting out small walls and stuff. With the laser, everything is dead on. They say the accuracy is 1/4" over 100 feet and that seems true. You'll get slightly greater variation though in some cases because the device doesn't contain any sort of level and the case is not completely flat on any side. Therefore, it takes a little practice to know if you're shooting a straight line or a slight angle. I just got this yesterday, and am returning it today. The first time I turned it on, the laser beam was on for a couple seconds, then disappeared. I cannot get it to come back on. I have switched the batteries, and still, nothing. The leveling backlight comes on, but not the projected laser. Also, this thing is so not level. If I line it up to where zero would be (if it were marked), it is about 5 degrees away from being level.

This gives an exact measurement every time! I don't know how I have been installing crown without it. Put an end to using a tape measure and having to guess where the wall actually ends (when measuring inside distances, you have to bend the tape measure and guess where the wall ends). This is also great because you don't need someone to hold the end of the tape measure. It is fast and exact.
