This lock works as advertised, really great solution to avoid carrying keys around. My wife who hates technology even likes it! One thing that might be useful if you purchase this is that you may think you are missing a screw because the inside latch plate only comes shipped with the upper screw attached. This screw is for SHIPPING and is longer than the 2 that are provided to actually attach this to the lock. It can be set aside, and is not used. The 2 smaller screws are found in the plastic bag that accompanies the lock. Also, you'll need to rotate the inner cam to the "use" position before removing the 2 INTERIOR screws that will allow you to take this lock out of the packaging (it ships screwed in to a piece of foam). This is a well built deadbolt lock. Built strong; and easy to use. One thing to note if you are installing in a 1 3/8 inch door; or a door with an existing bore for the latch -- The latch requires a 1 inch bore. The bypass key is a must if you are locking an area where you have no other ingress. Requires a 9V battery which is hidden under the inside cover. The battery is included! Can be programmed to lock by pressing the top button and turning the exterior thumb twist; or it can be set to lock only when a code is entered. The inside cover plate screws into a baseplate; no extra holes in the door are required. Fresh install requires a 2 1/16 and a 1 inch hole-saw. Keypad lights -- a real plus in low light conditions.

I purchased the Schlage electronic deadbolt to allow entry into our house in case I didn't have a key with me. It works very well. Only drawback that I see is that it needs to be placed on a solid door without a glass panel as the lock has a lever on the inside that operates the deadbolt. There is no option for key locking from the inside, only the lever. Locks only keep honest people out, so it's better to have a deadbolt that is key lockable from both sides if you have an exterior door with glass panels. No need making it easier for a thief to get in than is necessary.

I live in Iowa, which has all weather ranges and they keyless entry worked very well for awhile but then quit working so I thought the batteries had died but replacement batteries did not help so now I'm stuck with a broken electronic lock and am back to using the keys as a basic, but very expensive, deadbolt. My mother also bought one and had to have it replaced within a year. Great idea, poor longevity.
