I bought this to make more space in the shed that we use for storage of the family's four bikes. It works, but it is not easy for the average 5th grader to use. Application: Lift a 28 pound bike high enough to put another similar road bike underneath it. Make this easy enough that a 5th grader can do it. Result: 5th grader can accomplish this, but it is difficult enough that both she and her mother complain about it. Thus, the 3 stars. This unit makes the job possible, but not easy. Issues: 1. I've had two of these for several years and just got another since the price was good. The hardest part about installing them was the hot weather. But I can't blame the manufacturer for that. If you measure properly and make sure that you know where your beams are, then it's a matter of making appropriate sized pilot holes so you can get the bolts in without killing yourself, but assure that they won't come out of the ceiling either. There have been a few comments about the spacing of your joists. 16 inches has been a standard for a long time, which makes them 48 inches apart with two in between. I've been trying to clean and organize my garage so that both cars can fit. this is most space effective method I could find for two bikes. The stand is sturdy and Racor's customer service is the best. One of the arms didn't fit so I called them and they shipped me an new arm within a day and a half.

The bike stand is very sturdy and takes pretty wide mountain bike tires. When ordering the bike stand, I was concerned that it would not be able to take both bikes, but that was not a problem at all. The stand is big enough to easily take two bikes. Also, it only took about 10 minutes to put together and it is pretty strudy.

Not much to say, but it does what it is supposed to. Once you mount it into a stud it may not look strong, but I don't think it will fail. I added some small washers to the hardware just for perhaps some added support. It holds my heavy downhill bike with no problem, and it holds it high on my ceiling. Get this to organize your garage or put the bike out of the way in your apartment without spending $100.

To be honest I had my doubts this would hold up 2 mountain bikes (although both aluminum) but it is quite sturdy. The third time putting the bikes on the rack though, the rubber coating ripped off of one of the supports, I'm going to have to wrap tape around it to keep it from coming all the way off. I'm sure I should have lifted the bike higher instead of just pulling the bike off and it may not have happened. Also be sure to pre-drill for the mounting screws as they are fatties. I stripped one pretty good trying to skip that step. All in all an good solution for storing your bikes up and out of the way.

Item works well for our childrens' bikes. However, we have to aid one with a bungee cord because the spokes on one of the bikes does not allow the tire to sit completely within the grasp of the hanger. The other two bikes don't have metal spokes, so there is no problem. You will leave tire marks on your wall, even if you get the guard for the back tire, so I would recommend using these in the garage or storage building only.

This rack does what it says. Really easy to set up and frees up so much space. Holds my family's 4 bikes of varying sizes. And, Amazon had the best price. I had it in 3 days.

I'm not sure if these have just gotten worse lately, or what, but the latest reviews are telling of what the current product is like. I bought two of these units for my garage. These arrived in a huge box from Amazon, and were packaged very well, with no visible signs of damage. I opened the first box, and started going through the instructions (mostly decent, could use some extra steps), and checking the fit of everything, after noting some of the reviews. Everything seemed to fit inside the track during inspection, and the parts seemed of decent quality. When I started assembly of the first unit, I installed the track. KIND OF HARD TO TELL WHICH END IS UP UNLESS COVER PLATE IS ON. AND THEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE COVER PLATE OFF TO SCREW IT TO THE WALL. IT WORKS FINE. I DID HAVE TO TURN IT OVER AFTER FINDING THE BOX IT CAME IN AND NOTICING IT WAS UPSIDE DOWN. NOW GETTING MY GRANDSON TO USE IT. THAT'S ANOTHER MATTER!
