When my mother's basement flooded and a lot was lost, I searched for a way to make the room somehow usable again. I found this shelving unit at Target and brought it home to test it out. I was pleasantly surprised with just how easy to put together it was as well as just how much it holds (180 lbs per shelf). The bottom shelf sits on the floor, so if you're dealing with any water problems (my mom's basement still gets seepage), I recommend purchasing plastic bins to put on the bottom shelf. When I returned to the store to purchase more, I found out I had to order the unit and pay shipping. I found the unit here for much cheaper AND shipping was free! I now have five in her basement. These shelf hangers are surprisingly easy to assemble and disassemble for relocation. Instead of drilling about 54 holes in the wall for the multiple support brackets for each shelf (3 screws/bracket x 3 brackets/shelf x 6 shelves), there are only 6 holes for the eye screws for the Quick Shelf. You don't need to install all of the under shelf clips for the Quick Shelf, but you should use all of the 18 additonal screws to attach the shelves to an L-bracket support. The 6 shelves can be split into two sets of three or 4+2 or 5+1, or 2+2+2, etc. by adding only 6 or 12 eye screws. Using full 1 inch thick pine boards, we made 10 foot long shelves with no sags. I recently moved into a small condo that has very little kitchen storage but reasonable floor space. This shelving unit allows me to store a lot of my kitchen items and small appliances, freeing up valuable cabinet and counter space. The shelving unit also blends in nicely with my stainless steel appliances. I was able to assemble this unit by myself in under 45 minutes. Even if I eventually move into a larger space, this shelving unit will quite likely continue to provide ample storage space as it is extremely sturdy, and the addition of the heavy duty castors makes it very portable.
