I bought this for my 4 year old son. He loved the flashing lights and figured out that one the buttons makes the light show follow different patterns. It is pretty bright and has held up well.

Fits great in the hand and surprisingly lightweight, well balanced. I do like the included strap for hands free operation; with the swivel head you can point it where you need it while it is slung over your shoulder. For those who complained about the strap--don't attach it. Battery compatibility was not a problem either. My compact 18V 1.5 Ah Li-ion battery fit perfectly with no need to punch out an insert. It uses the A-90261 bulb, which is described as a Xenon bulb on Makita's web site. It produces an amazing amount of light. For $18.25 what a good value. Replacement bulbs are reasonable, $4.79 with free shipping from Northern Tool. Too soon to need bulbs, but good idea to be prepared. They will probably break if the flashlight is jarred or dropped during use.

A far superior, but expensive upgrade. The incandecent beam is able to focus better than the LED, however all things considered, you will NOT be disappointed by this product. The additional battery life is a definite plus and will surely help the LED pay for itself over time.

I bought this to carry with me on motorcycle rides and camping trips. It has yet to let me down. Battery life is amazing, the clip is durable and even after all the vibrations from a 5+ hour motorcycle trip it doesn't slide off the flashlight body.

The clip light provides good light, however, the design of the battery holder places it in a position where you would normally grab the device and remove it from the hat. In many cases I end up poping off the battery cover and the 2 batteries fall out. Installing the clip and removing the clip from the hat is rather awkward as well. I would not buy this product again. Well, O.K., I don't sneer at hurricanes. But after Hurricane Ike and a week without power, we decided to upgrade our emergency lighting to more than flashlights, candles and chemical light sticks. I bought three of these family-sized Coleman lanterns and three MicroPacker lanterns (also reviewed). The first time I turned on this family-sized lantern I went "WOW!" This is a serious light! I measured the light output of this lantern (I'm a photojournalist) and discovered it puts out half the light of a 40 watt bulb, but much, much more light than a 25 watt bulb. There is plenty of light for reading and walking around like a human being instead of stumbling around with flashlights. You usually get what you pay for. This case is no exception. I LOVE this headlamp. It's easy to turn off/on when it's on your head. The tilt adjustment stays where you set it. Very easy to readjust the tilt while it's on your head. Bright enough for having to get around in the dark.
