This light performs as advertised, looks nice, but it could use sturdier parts. The casing for the light should be heavy duty, not cheap plastic. As for the spacer that hangs down, I hate it. It's too long and too flimsy. Poking it with my finger I feel like the thing is going to break off. It should be half its length, as it sometimes gets in the way. I'd rip it off if the spring mechanism for the legs wasn't there. But that is only a minor problem compared to how useful this light is. And I absolutely love the fact that you can use it with 3, 6, or the full 9 batteries. Rechargeable batteries with lower voltage don't dim the intensity of the light at all, another big plus. I have owned this headlamp for 6 months. I use it at my mountain cabin where it is sometimes pitch dark. I cannot say enough good things about how it brightens the night. I use the low setting for around the campfire or for house hold chores. The high setting single beam throws light clearly for about 80 yds. I use it for night hiking. Some headlights reflect down into the eyes of the user this one does not. I am buying a few more of these as I have need in my car and around the home, it is 1000x better than a flashlight. Great unit!!!

This thing is bright as day, and actually makes a really good outdoor flashlight (was my primary in the African wilderness, and still for camping). Weird batteries, I suggest getting extra if you are going to rely upon it.

Small LED lights are very handy to carry on your keychain so you will always have a light when using your keys or entering a dark area. I prefer white LEDs such as this one rather than red LEDs. This small bright LED light is well designed and by a good manufacturer (Gerber) in stainless steel with rubber armoring. The switch is slightly recessed and has a nice action compard to the inexpensive membrane switches of other lights I have purchased. The light is slightly larger than a quarter in diameter and approximately the thickness of three quarters. I paid $7.50 which is a good value; the price has varied from $7.00 to $9.00. I have this light on my key chain and actually find myself using it quite often. It's very bright. The light is rated at 50 lumens, which means that the light can completely illuminate my yard when I go out at night. You can also stand the light on end like a candle to illuminate a room- the resulting light is not bright enough to read, but certainly enough to see everything in the room. The batteries last me about a month with some use every day and you can find rechargeables that work well in the light- they end up actually making the light brighter, but don't last quite as long. This is a great little light. It's noticeably brighter than the Maglite 2 AA LED and only a tad less convenient to carry. It will out shine an old Underwater Kinetics 4-C Krypton dive light I've depended on for over 20 years, and battery cost and life is far superior. Clearly this is not a dive light and it clearly is not the equal of the Maglite D cell LED lights either. As with kitchen knives I try to use the right tool for the right job. The Maglite 3 AA LED is a excellent general purpose flashlight that will not cost an arm and a leg to keep in new batteries. You'll be more than satisfied if you buy one.

I bought this for my mother. She complains about everything....but I have heard no complaints about this lantern/flashlight. That says alot. It was very affordable, has nifty features and is easy to recharge. It also operates using a more standard bulb for the main light. I like this because it's something you can get off the shelf. It has a more concentrated beam you can use made of LED bulbs. These last quite a while so I'm not concerned about having to replace them. This light will pay for itself shortly in money saved from buying D cell batteries. All-in-all this is an awesome little gadget to have. I'd most definitely recommend it. It was a little difficult to get out of the packaging...but most electronics are...that's when scissors come in awfully handy.
