We purchased these shoes because of Stride Rite's excellent reputation. My own three children wore Stride Rite almost exclusively for their first 8 years or so and my grandchildren have mostly worn Stride Rite shoes as well. We were extremely disappointed when the little flashing lights in these shoes failed on the first wearing. We returned them for a prompt replacement but it has only been a week since we got them. So far the lights are still working. As a career classroom teacher, I am very familiar with the "flashy" shoes and the lights usually last for many months. Hopefully this was a "lemon" pair of shoes and the next ones will hold up better.
