I purchased these for my 2 year old daughter. She wasn't quite ready for them, so my 4 1/2 year old used them. And then some neighbor kids used them at different times over here. Then my daughter used them a year or so later. They were durable, inexpensive and a decent starter skate. A kid can put these on, adjust the size and straps all without adult help. That's always a plus!

If you have seen the red ruby or silver slippers in Target, these are identical except they are pink. I bought them to match my 5-year-old daughter's ballerina costume for Halloween. They looked perfect (exactly as shown) with her costume and saw her through two parades, two costume contests, two parties and two trick-or-treat runs. After Halloween, I let her wear them to preschool and within two days all the glitter rubbed off the toe area exposing what looked to be ragged, off white cardboard. The shoes aren't really made of cardboard, but something similar. I didn't expect these shoes to last much longer than Halloween and I got what I expected. The sizing is way off on these skates. The package says size 6 - 12 shoes, but my son's size 10 sneaker has to be jammed into the largest skate setting and it still doesn't rest on the bottom of the skate. We tried the same skates out a couple of months ago when he wore sandals, but a thicker shoe just isn't fitting. We like the fact that you get the pads and skates together, but we'll have to return the set since we want to use the skates longer. Unless your child has a small foot, I wouldn't recommend these skates.

My son is a Cars fanatic, so I purchased these shoes for the commercial value. They are an easy shoe for him to put on by himself. It takes no lace tying, and I'm personally not a fan of velcro. It was a nice alternative. The shoes are a bit wide, making them a bit clumsy. But they are easy for him to put on to run outside in the yard, or to go to the store. I probably would not recommend them for a school shoe.
