I've used Nalgene bottles in the past for hiking, but I don't hike much anymore. I needed a bottle to take water to work and some colleagues have been using Klean Kanteen for a while. They liked theirs, so I thought I'd give them a try. At first I was looking at the brushed stainless, but it always gives me a chill -- as if I were biting down on aluminum foil. So I went with the painted ones instead. I got a black 27oz and like it. I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten the 40oz, but one of the guys has one and it might be a bit large for my application. Still not positive, so I might be getting one of those too. I purchased two of these bottles in May of 2008 with the stainless steel caps. We were very pleased with them and in August I purchased another. Although the third bottle was more than 20% less than when I made the first order, the quality of the bottle has degraded by at least 50%. It was immediately obvious upon opening the package that this was a much cheaper steel. It is thin, light-colored and rough. The inside of the older version is polished and smooth while this one is dull and hard to clean. My husband convinced me it was still good or else I would have returned it on the spot. If you are looking for a cheap and very light use bottle... this one works. If you are looking for a quality workhorse bottle... this is NOT it. The quality of the screw cap ring is bad. There aren't enough threads to really get the top on tight. It either spins or leaks slightly. The tinted paint layer is thin and does chip/scratch pretty easy with typical use. They are made in China if that is a concern for you. Save your money and buy a Sigg bottle for the same kind of bottle but much higher quality. Or a Klean Kanteen. I own both and they are 10x the water bottle. I have four children under the age of 8 that used these bottles and they just don't really hold up like the Sigg or Klean Kanteen.

My 8 year old daughter was begging for a pogo stick since all the other kids in our neighborhood had one. They ALL had this pogo stick. Once I did a little bit of research I realized why - it's basically the only one available at a reasonable price. My daughter and all the other kids in the neighborhood (from ages 6-9) LOVE it! It's durable, works well, and fun!

I bought a couple of these for my husband to use on his bicycle instead of using plastic bottles. The theory of the design is great... execution... not so great. The quality of the stainless steel is lower than many other bottles. They are much thinner steel which causes the bottles to have issues with cold expansion. I put ice water in the bottle and the mouth of bottle expands to the point where the cap doesn't stay on. It just pulls right off. The threads of the screw top are not deep enough or enough period. It needs to have at least 1-2 more threads for the cap to go on tightly. It just spins loose if you try to tighten it. So it leaks. I purchsed 2 of these scooters, one for my 9 year old step-son, the other for myself. While it is a little small for an adult it is sturdy enough for me to ride. The brakes are not the best, they tend to stick and not fully release, but we are not traveling at high rates of speed, so they will do. The scooter is a lot of fun. I am happy with the quality for the price I paid.

i don't think the after taste from this bottle can be a heathely thing.after trying many cleaning methods the taste and smell of metal was still present, i through mine in the trash after 2 uses,

We have a store-bought New Wave bottle and love it, but were very disappointed by these. The lids are very poorly made and when we asked for replacements, we were sent the exact same lids, which also don't work.
