I work out at the gym 4-5 days a week, and need a brief type short for "support". I used 2xist briefs (which cost about the same) and they did a good job, but now that switched to these - WOW. Much more supportive and the material is much more skin-tight and slimmer material than the 2xist cotton briefs. The walk to work today and the walk home yesterday is in jeans with these boxers, and these briefs just wick the sweat away. They are expensive, which is why I only give 4 stars. If these were $10 a pop, I'd easily give them 5 stars. Totally worth buying if you are like me, you go to the gym after work and need a supportive brief &/or need a brief for outside in hot weather. Not sure how they will be in winter, due to the thin (but definitely not cheap) material.

These are probably the best shorts out there for anything related to sports. They feel so lightweight, I felt like it added speed to my usual running and cutting! I am also surprised by the durability, they last a long time and keep the color despite the thin material.

I wore one in High School gym class, 35 years ago. I needed one for a surgical procedure I was having (yep) and purchased this item from Amazon. I seem to remember that when I was a kid playing little league baseball every store in town sold these, for about a buck fifty. Since the good old USA has given up on Physical Fitness in schools, I guess there isn't much of a market for jock straps any longer (or any shorter, for that matter (batta-bing!)). Anyhow, this particular item worked fine. Held up the merchandise like a champ. No complaints. Wore it once (on the trip home from the doctor's office) and now it's going on Ebay. Any bidders?

The Shock Dr. compression shorts could indeed shock due to the built-in design of the cup pocket. It doesn't allow the cup to float deep enough. If the wearer bends over, the fabric doesn't allow movement of the cup; the position of the cup changes to a very uncomfortable one that would cause great pain should it be "forced" to protect the protectables. As an umpire, bending over is part of the job; around 250+ times a game. I would like to think comfort and protection were with me during the whole game.

These are not what you'd expect from a pair of compression shorts, but I am totally sold! I thought that they may be hot or binding like some other spandex-type shorts but they are light and actually do a great job of keeping you cool. I recommend them to everyone!
