Symantec is taking some seriously flawed turns: (1) Thirty days before my old 360 was due for renewal, I got pop-ups from Symantec several times per day telling me I was X days out from renewal. Your security product is supposed to protect you from pop-ups, not send them. (2) Turns out now subscription is not only for anti-virus updates but for the entire package. (3) Several problems renewing -- different prices and info for the same products on the Symantec Web site and installed update feature; renewal screen said it accepts American Express but offers credit card input format only for Visa/Mastercard; Symantec charges an additional $10 for continued download service, meaning the subscription is only good for a year if you can download it successfully and not need to access the installation ... I do love BitDefender; the malware detection engine is top notch, and 2009 comes with a few useful new features in addition to the ones I liked in the 2008 version. The user interface has again been revamped, and can be alternated between advanced mode, which gives the user full access to all settings, and a more basic view that provides the layman with just the essentials. Indeed, BitDefender 2009 is easily a four star piece of software, and maybe even a five ...when it works. Herein lies the problem. BitDefender has earned a reputation for releasing its new software versions when they ought to be, by most standards, still in beta. I bought Adobe Acrobat 6.0 more than a year ago because someone told me that 7.0 had some glitches to watch out for. I have had to reload the 6.0 software at least 15 times because it hangs up or just stops working. I searched for answers online and finally learned that the problem comes from the updates not being installed correctly. You cannot have updates on the computer that are a later version than the software. I took off all versions of updates for both reader and acrobat and installed just 6.0. Then, I installed the updates and the latest version of Adobe Reader. I haven't had to reload the software since. Hope this helps someone resolve their issues with this product. Ok, I have to admit it - I'm totally converted to Serif software when I hadn't even heard of them 6 months. I've used Microsoft Publisher for years and years, but after using both WebPlus and DrawPlus from Serif I thought I'd give their DTP product a go. THis is more powerful, has loads more features, is far easier to use AND is a lot less money than Microsoft. I've just made a flyer for an upcoming event. The thing that surprises me most is the drawing and graphics tools which are in here - I didn't need to use DrawPlus, I just did it straight in PagePlus. Apart from saving a load of time, the cool thing is that if you need to adjust a graphic as you're laying it out on the page you can do all the adjustments in place, without having to keep tweaking it in another program, importing ... I have owned several versions of Net Nanny - and the latest, version 5.6 is awesome. It allows me to set-up a profile for each family member based on their age. Net Nanny just won the 2008 PC Mag Editor's Choice Award for Parental Controls- and it has earned it and more in my house. My kids have their Internet access shut off every school night at 7PM sharp thanks to Net Nanny. Anyone who isn't using a filter or parental controls and has kids surfing the Internet is asking for trouble

The product was impossible to set up and ridiculously cumbersome to use. I returned it.

Not intuitive at all. Very limited built-in help. Hard-to-access service and no answer at their 800 number. All-in-all the 2 of 5 stars I'm giving is generous. The actual product isn't bad, but you need to be a BitDefender employee in order to figure it out. After 5 emails asking for help, I got a generic response with instructions to email them for help!
