If you see this product on sale for $279 from a seller named Musician's Advocate, be advised, it is the ACADEMIC version. When I bought it, I emailed to double check and received a response telling me it was the full version, but when I received the confirmation email with the tracking information, it gave the product code for the academic version. I called to verify and was told it's the same as the full version. This sounded too good to be true, so I called around to double check. I found out that the academic version is limited in that you have to repurchase the software when upgrades come out. PowerDVD is still a very useful piece of software. I had several DVDs that would not play on my computer. They will play with PowerDVD. Of course, I realize this was very likely due to missing codecs the computer needed, but they still played after installation. I would recommend this software.

I found Spin it Again by a web search several months ago and it's now indispensable software for me. At the time I was looking for a way to convert an oral history interview from cassette tape to CD, and Spin it Again was the perfect solution for that. After that, I started a new project with Spin it Again: converting my collection of audiobooks from cassette tape to digital audio. Spin it Again is user-friendly. I appreciate that because I'm not interested in advanced digital audio editing; I just want to produce decent-sounding audio files from my books on tape. When I wanted to make changes to the site I discovered that the web designer would have to make all the changes I needed to have done. This would not work. When I needed to have a change made I needed done quickley. When I changed web designers the new one told me he could set up the site and I could make changes using contribute. I placed an order for contribute and true to his word the program is piece of cake. I love it. This program is so simple you don't need a book for instructions. Band in a Box has everything my husband needs for the music he uses in different music programs, he really loves it. The only problem he has with it is that it is difficult to learn how to get the combinations of back up tracks he needs. But it has all the equipment for groups and the different back up tracks. After he figures out how to make it do all the things he wants it to do, we will be ordering more up grades for it. He thinks it is a fantstic program for musicians from beginners and professionals.

With Garage Band's standard-issue synth patches and loops, it was hard to make new music without using the same sounds more than once. With these Jam Packs, I can get lost just finding loops to use - which is a really good thing! Definitely worth the money!

It's a nice program but based on older technology. It won't download to the harddrive.
