I've been teaching for many years and have depended on Office 04 to make the best of my presentations and of student projects for evaluations and for parents during conference and have been pleased. But I must admit that Office 08 was a must needed improvement. The main goal of Office 08 has to give your presentations a lot more pop and to make it easier to do so. The templates are better in Office but overall Word isn't drastically different. I didn't have any hiccups trying to kick off 04 for the newer version. It all went smoothly. I don't have any issues with Office 08, in fact, I like it better than 04 just for its drop down menu alone. I bought this product because Outlook 2007 didn't seem to have as much power and flexibility for business management. After installing Act 2009 and adding all of my contact data, I found it to be very sluggish on my dual-core, 2.2 ghz pentium laptop with 2 gb ram. There is quite a lag time between clicking a button and seeing the screen refresh. That being said, the software seems pretty powerful and customizeable, as it is built off a relational database. Integration with Outlook 2007 is good (you can sync your calendar and track messages send via outlook). However, I was sad to discover that you can't even get your Gmail via POP access using ACT because Act does not support the custom port numbers. I was also unable to get Kid Pix 3 to work on XP. After searching the internet, we found a way that was supposed to make it compatible. We followed every direction to make this thing work. It did end up finally loading, but then it would crash. Finally we found a tech support number. First we were told that there was only support on the web for KP3, but the website directs us back to call for support. We were bounced us back and forth and back and forth to different departments. NO ONE wanted to take responsibility to help us (Broderbund is notorious for this). They only gave tech support if we had Kid Pix 4! What a runaround!!! I have been on a lifelong search through comic stores across the country for Star Trek comic books. Never to purchase, as that would burn a decent hole into my already empty pocket, but simply to glance through the pages and read the stories in a manner so much more different than what I was used to. Comics are fun to read, and they offer a unique vision of a story and its characters. Imagine my surprise when I learned there was a compilation DVD in the works for the Star Trek comic series! I used it when my children were growing up and now I'm providing Reader Rabbit for my granddaughter to help her retain and improve her reading skills over the summer. I am pleased with the companies notification to me that my copy was damaged in shipping. Unfortunately, they did not have a replacement for me. They were very prompt in informing me of the "BAD" news. I had downloaded a trial version from microsoft to "test drive" the program and it works great. Thanks.

I only purchase this upgrade because my original OEM package did not have powerpoint. What I ended up with is another brain fart by Microsoft. What possessed them to go out of their way to incovenience long time users of the products is beyond explanation. What I have now is hours of lost productivity resulting from a completely remodeled GUI. LIke I really to spend my days learning a new interface. For what. What gain in functionality am I benefitting from. As far as I concerned from heere on out. Microsoft is populated by a bunch of jerks trying rip off the corporate world. Too bad they don't have to compete on merit.
