44.Mac OS X 10.1 [Old Version] from: Apple

Software : Mac OS X 10.1 [Old Version]
Six months into using OS -X started having Kernel panics (Apple's blue secreen of death). Not running non-Apple programs, multi-tasking, or running peculiar non-standard hardware (Logitech tracball, HP printer/scanner). 5 trips to the repair shop - new hard drive, new RAM, new system board, upgrade to 10.2.8; 4 phone calls to Apple "Support." Kernel panics returned. Lots of web searches - found lots of boards where people have the same experience, and found the only permanent solution was downgrading to OS9 or upgrading to OS 10.3. "Support" denies it's poor USB software.

Running Windows 95 and that means Windows 98 is illegal in your country and you are in the land of needing a new computer fast, feeling that you might have a box that looks like it is running windows 3.1 and to be honest now is your chance to move to Windows 2000 for a more solid operating system. Even NT users found more stability in Windows 2000, 98 users mostly gamers or downloaders, seeing the blue screen of death often, while Win 2K users doing something a little more software intensive like multimedia, graphics and servers that 98 could not manage. So came the day of the duel-processor, having an NT Dual 500mhz, upgrading to Win2K and you still had a fast machine, 64mb and 128mb games cards never really impressing you that much to get a better machine, a games console maybe cheaper and ... 47.Microsoft Windows XP Professional [Old Version] from: Microsoft Software

Software : Microsoft Windows XP Professional [Old Version]
I recently had the delightful experience of running the latest XP Service Pack 3 offered as a free upgrade from Microsoft. While Windows XP Professional already impressed me, SP3 makes this the most important OS ever created.

With plenty of duds, Microsoft does manage to release a few gems such as Powerpoint, Excel, some really good games, and the Windows XP operating system. With SP3 Microsoft has hit a home run that immediately increases the value of tons of hardware (literally). This is due to the dramatic improvement in performance offered to this existing and otherwise depreciating hardware.

To label this enhanced operating system "the best ever" is a reflection of how well it does in a multitude of categories ranging from multimedia to basic everyday use. Comparing ... Read More

Software : Microsoft Windows Vista Business FULL VERSION [DVD] [OLD VERSION]
I tread very cautiously into the world of Windows Vista... Had waited until this date (08/30/08) to take "the plunge"... I use an iMac with Bootcamp... First impression upon instaling Vista is "I'M SUPER IMPRESSED"... Smooth installation, smooth sailing... Of course, a slight learning curve having come from years, and years of WinXP, but even at that the "excitement of discovery" as I load software in... a few surprises, no doubt, as I found that my printer CD-Driver disc would not load as it was configured for WinXP; BUT NO WORRIES, as Vista popped up a balloon that gave me the link to the HP website so I could download the latest Vista driver for my printer... Printer working fine now... Right now I'm tackling the situation on how to transfer my Outlook Express mail backups that I performed throught ABF ... Read More

50.Microsoft SQL Server Workgroup Edition 2005 32 Bit CD/DVD 5 Client from: Microsoft Software

Workgroup edition is an entry-level version of sql server 2005. I've used it successfully in our small departments, and for when I didn't need BI. For heavy lifting, you'll need a higher, more full-featured version. For BI (analysis services, reporting services, notification services, transformation services) you'll need at least standard. To help get sql server set up and configured properly I relied heavily on Stanek's SQL Server 2005 Administrator's Pocket Consultant, at just under 600 pages it packs in lots of detail.
