The program and feature layout in nice, but AutoCad needs to stop publishing software with bugs that effect basic functions. For example, after running for a week or so, trying to use the "File' drop down menu crashed the program! Their website acknowledged this and the 'fix' was to turn off the last file used function (when you click file you see the last XX files opened). Ok, so now it doesn't crash, but you have to go to File/open/and search for the last file you used. Irritating!

For 1100 Bucks I would expect more from a company.

Contribute is a great tool for content management on web sites by clients. It provides a lot of control and protection of site structure and is simple to use. Integration with Word and Excel are excellent tools.

I would like to be able to control access on a page-by-page basis instead of a folder-by-folder basis. But I can work with the current situation.

I'm not going to attempt to give an extensive review because I'm not a power user. However, if you are considering using Photoshop for the first time, and you can get past the high price, and you have some time to invest in learning it, and a lot of time to invest using it...it's an amazing piece of software. I just do occasional nick nac graphics work and I can't live without it. Ive been using Photoshop for about 10 years and probably don't use 20% of it's power or features, but it is indispensable. I use it to create web graphics and save, touch up and modify all kinds of graphic files. The best thing about Photoshop is that you work in layers and can save and view any number of layer combinations which keeps your graphic alive and oh so usable. If you're even considering paying the ... Read More

The product is very easy to use. You don't need to read the manual or do the tutorials to figure it out. There are a lot of things you can do. However, it is also very limiting. Things that should be very simple are difficult. For example, you put an area rug in a room, and then you want to put furniture on top of it. That sounds like something simple but it is not easy. The program will not let you put any piece of furniture on top of something else. Instead you have to place the furniture off to the side, and then either edit its properties, or go into 3D view and lift the furniture off the ground a little, then slide it over the rug. Copying and pasting has a really stupid implemention. It is unconventional and clunky. Also, there is no way to copy multiple items and past them. ... Read More

I bought a Huey to use for calibrating my work LCDs. I have a dual monitor set-up and do a lot of graphics and photography work. It's important to me that what is displayed on my monitor translates to what comes out the printer.

Overall, the Huey performs well enough. Reading some of the older, negative reviews, it's pretty clear that Pantone has VASTLY improved their software. All I had to do was install the software (which curiously prompts you to restart after installation even thought it is not necessary. I've verified this on several other computers in my office), stick the Huey to the center of the screen, and a few minutes later, the screen is accurately colored. It was easy, well laid out in the instructions, and about as simple as I can imagine it being.

I'm a Photoshop user but had read so many great reviews and tried the trial version of PainterIX and just had to buy this. I'm very happy with it. For me it was a very quick learning curve from PS to Painter. Painter is much more "painterly" than PS and the brushes and paints really do react very much like the real deal. Coming from studio painting using acrylics for my underpainting and oils on top I found that Corels' oil pastels actually gave me a very similar look and feel once I learned how to tweak the brushes to my liking. In my opinion the most important things to learn to really get what you want from Painter are learning how to adjust the brushes to your liking, learning to use "papers" as textures instead of the brushes as textures (that's how PS works), and getting used to the color wheel. ... After four baseball seasons with Pinnacle Studio (upgrading every year), I told myself that I would use a different video editing program to make my son's baseball team video. I was tired of the little bugs, glitches, and incompatibilities associated with Pinnacle, and so I decided to shop around. After quite a bit of research I liked the reviews I read about Sony Vegas Movie Studio - and it was more affordable than I had expected. I was a bit intimidated at first, because it is more sophisticated than Pinnacle, but I knew that I would eventually reap the rewards if I forced myself to tackle the learning curve. What has been a savior for me is all of the great instructional tips available on YouTube. They have motivated me to learn new techniques and imagine new ways of using this great program. My only ... If you do any kind of graphics creation at all on a regular basis, there is one reason why you MUST have this program: Converting images to vector graphics on a budget. In a nutshell, this means that you can infinitely reduce or enlarge an image with NO distortion, and still have money in your pocket. Other reasons? I have about 2500 fonts, and the font navigator is fantastic for finding just the right typeface. The screen capture software is of little use to me, but for folks who need screencaps from games, movies, etc., it might prove very useful. For fontaholics, obsessive clip art collectors, and beginners, the program comes with fonts and a nice starter pack of clip art so you'll be ready to start playing right away.

I have to admit, I'm not crazy about the interface. It's about on the same ... Read More

The layout and interface are very Garage Band-like making it an easy to learn application. There are many more options for recording and saving files than Garage Band. Without reading any manual I was able to set up basic one-track recording, record a song, punch-in corrections, loop sections, and do some basic editing for both audio and midi. There's so much more to the program yet I'm happy with what I can do just out of the box!

Garage Band is a great beginner product but if you need to step up into a professional program Logic Express is a good first step. In my opinion, it's easier to begin with than Pro Tools or Digital Performer.

I was referred to the Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum by someone that has vast knowledge with developing VS4. I was telling them that I couldn't get the chroma-key feature to work very well with their program, and they suggested I purchase Vegas 8. Within an hour of getting Vegas, I had my chroma-key work finished, and published my video to the web. Very pleased! I have also used the audio editing features many times since I purchased Vegas 8. I subscribe to a 4 hour daily MP3 download of a popular AM broadcast that runs while I'm sleeping, and the files come in 4 parts to reduce download size. I now easily drop the 4 files into Vegas, select all, group, and render the files into one customized file. Works GREAT! I like to poke around with programs, but honestly, I bought Vegas to "bang-out" the chroma-key video ... Read More
