This Norton product works as advertised! I searched online and asked my colleagues for a security software product that provides more than simple protection you get from a single focus or category vendor. IÃ¢(tm)ve been a user and fan of Norton for years, but wanted to ensure I got current information. I am very pleased my research led me again to Norton. This product is fantastic. Easy to set up, monitor and change if needed.

I have used Norton for years and the only time I ever had a problem was when I had saved an attachment to scan later (this was in 2002). I didn't scan the file immediately and opened it a year later wondering what it was. As you can imagine, it put a virus on my computer. I was using free software on this computer and ended up with a keylogger, trojan, and a search redirect. I still haven't gotten rid of the search redirect. I am glad I spent the money for this product because I have no update issues, the firewall is integrated, and the monitoring is in the background. This version doesn't have the resource usage that has been seen in the past. The virus scans are done during idle time, so it doesn't slow down your computer.

I'm a long standing Norton A/V user who was thinking about changing my A/V program after being disillusioned by Norton A/V 2008. I am so glad I decided to give Norton another chance. This is the BEST version I have seen. Everything is in front of you, they got rid of the dual icons in the system tray and found a way to make their product use very few system resources.On top of that: 1. it updates virus definitions every 15 minutes 2. keeps a list of files that have been scanned and proven safe. Once one of these safe files is changed, it gets scanned again on the next scan. A previous version of this software came with Vista PC I purchased for my father over a year ago. When I renewed this product I performed the recommended upgrade to 2008 Internet Security (1 user) and made sure that it was working properly. I checked on his computer a few months later to find this software had disabled auto-protect features without warning. I couldn't enable these features and there was nothing to indicate what the problem was. I clicked on the Fix It button and after a long scan of the computer it was determined I needed to contact support without any indication of what the problem is. It costs over $9.00 to contact support by phone (perhaps this is a scam they're running -- break the software and charge people to fix it?), or you can download a 4MB program to perform ... Great product, does what it is supposed to do, once it is installed, but the installation!!! Once I found the link that allowed their tech to figure out what was wrong, and that took me some doing, after I had tried to install it a couple of times, including using the Norton Utility that is supposed to clean out old Norton installations, it took the tech about an hour to figure out what the problems were and fix them. He was excellent, superb, obvioiusly in South Asia, and you have to be willing to allow them to take over your computer, but why was it so difficult (I run Windows XP on AMD Athlon) to install, and so hard to find the on line tech support link?

I also installed Norton Antivirus 2009 alongside Zone Alarm firewall and my system froze. Upon installation, Norton Antivirus 2009 directs the user--without explanation--to uninstall Zone Alarm but also offers the option to skip this step (without advising of why Zone Alarm should be uninstalled nor what the consequences of skipping the uninstall of Zone Alarm might be). I have freed up the system by disabling Zone Alarm but I am none too pleased with Symantec. So how does the new version of Norton Antivirus work compared to the previous version? I have no idea. Any potential improvements were upstaged by the hassles associated with installing it.

Norton AntiVirus v.11.0 works great for my PPC G5 Mac running 10.4.11. It installed without any issues, and it's cheap insurance considering all the threats on the Internet. I haven't found any viruses yet, but I do transfer files from my Win XP system - there I've found several in the past year. Bottom line - good peace of mind.
