Yes, this is Vista Home Basic, you get what you pay for, a very good operating system without a bunch of eye-candy using up system resources, which makes it a good choice for an older computer upgrade or building your own system. You just have to ask yourself if you really need Media Center, DVD Maker, more Windows games or the RAM devouring Aero Glass desktop look. If you look around there are free DVD makers, free games and probably free substitutes for Media Center. But if you are going from XP to Vista I do recommend a clean install of Vista instead of upgrading XP. So it's your choice if you want Vista Basic or Vista Ultimate Bloatware.

Awesome game. Plenty of play time after the main plot is completed. Visit a ton of planets in many systems. Try trading with a freighter if you get bored with just shooting everyone in a starfighter. The cut scenes in the bars & other interactive places get boring, but just hit 'escape' to run through them. Again,.... great game & loads of fun for the money

Vista is horrible. It sucks up free hard-drive space like it's going out of style. After continiously getting the low space error I was able to clear the disk partition to 2.3 gig free and within hours it was down to 1/2 a gig for no reason. While some of it's features are kinda neat it's not worth the hassle. I just bought a copy of XP Pro and will be redoing my OS tonight. Stay away if you have a choice.

This expansion improved even the original game even more. I loved being able to play the brand new campaign, though I wished it would have been a little longer. The campaign was more story-oriented, as it didn't just have you going to destroy a structure and then be done. This game also features a new civilization, the Atlanteans and the ultimate ability to be able to control the Titan of each civilization.

My workplace just upgraded to 2009 from 2006, and while 2006 was easily the best version of this software I've ever used, the 2009 version is easily the worst and has gone backward in functuality. For one thing, the program doesn't support Windows 2000, which all of the computers where I am run. I know, they should upgrade to XP, but they won't do that, so I'm stuck using this on a VPN running Server 2003, which is acceptable, though slow. Guiding myself around the interface is now a pain; instead of giving you a choice between panning and zooming via the toolbar, you're stuck with the left mouse button panning, and the right button dragging the box to zoom in. I got this primarily for backup and it works great in that capacity. The ability to consolidate all media in one place and serve it all over the house wirelessly was an added bonus (can pull music and pics up on the TV via the DirecTV HD DVR).
