I have used a cheaper and easier to use CAD program for years. I needed to load it on a new laptop and found that it been scratched. I needed to purchase a new CAD program and found Trubo CAD 14. Don't be fooled ... this is a hard program to learn. But it does so much more than what I was used to using. It comes with a pretty good tutorial CD (several hours). After watching about a third of the tutorial CD I was able to draw, in detail, plans for a new backyard BBQ bar area for my contractor and it came out pretty good if I do say so myself. If you need a CAD program and have the time and mind to learn this program ... you'll love it!!!

I ordered before I read the reviews. DUH. Because of the negative reviews, I tried to cancel. Amazon said it was too late. But, I could simply refuse the shipment and my money would be refunded. Cool. Anyway, regarding the negative reviews, I came to the conclusion that this isn't the kind of program some people expected. But that doesn't mean there's something wrong with the program. Meanwhile I got a trial version and tried it out. This program is stupendous. The manual, if you bother to read it is excellent and at 470 pages is not "thin" ! If that's not enough, the pdf file on the CD is over 1100 pages. This is a sophisticated tool for professionals. I would expect to see it on the desktop of any NASA engineer. This ... Read More

Outstanding Value, Buy For Online Subscription! "Clipart&More 3 Million" really is a gem of a buy, if you know what you getting! As other reviewers have noted, the included CDs are basically useless and I do not use the included program at all (hence the 4 out of 5 star rating). Included in this package is an activation code for a 1-year subscription to the clipart.com website (normally a 150 dollar fee). This is a very good site with 10 Million images (reported), a good search tool, and easy to download features. In addition, the usage and licensing agreement is very generous and allows me to use the images in my personal project (kid's homework, fliers, etc), advertising for our business and, even in our professional educational (candle making) videos we make! Look at the price! It's a steal at the moment, and there have been rebates available lately as well. Okay, the software itself is pretty darned good. It's setup a bit differently than AutoCAD, but is just as functional. (At least for myself, drawing reasonably simple mechanical and electromechanical systems.) If you have any CAD needs for a Macintosh, this is hard to beat.

I am probably under using the product. I just needed a tool for making simple mechanical drawings for the projects I do. For that, I have found it is very easy and straight forward to use. I did a sample drawing (an orthographic), dimensioned it, and printed it in about 10 minutes of trial and error poking around. While doing this, I noticed no ill mannered behavior. Seems to work completely as advertised. Ran the program on both XP-SP3 and Vista SP1. -Jim

I have used architectural software before, so I had a basic running knowledge of how to run the program. But if you are a beginner to this stuff look elsewhere. The directions book only gets you through a basic startup, then you must either use the help button in the program, or call the company with questions(to the tune of $9.95 a pop.) Also, my first project, around 4 hour worth, up and vanished after I saved it. This was even after I downloaded the needed patch from the website... Needless to say I am more than a little annoyed with this product already.... But it is cheap...

I have been using DesignCad since they were in Pryor, OK. I enjoy the product. The only real flaw I can say has disturbed me is the training disks are very mediocre at best. They are especially weak in their 3D tutorial presentation.

I've used FormTool for years. It's paid for itself many times over. It's one of those programs I don't use all the time, but would certainly miss if I didn't have it. It's like any software, it takes time to get the hang of it (it's not quick, and yes, it can be frustrating--like almost any software). I don't connect to databases, use formfiller, or do calculations (I don't use templates, either), I just create forms. It's not perfect, but it's good for just creating forms, and it's cheap. I upgrade when new versions appear and always get the least expensive version. I've tried to make forms in MS Word (ya wanna be really frustrated, try that!) and in Excel, but neither comes even close to the ease and functionality of FormTool.
