I have 120 GB Macbook. Got this 32-bit Windows Home Premium DVD and successfully installed it on a 35 GB partition created by Boot Camp. Out of 35 GB, Windows OS took 10.5 GB of disk space. Satisfied!

It's best to stay with the more common and tested versions of the product than take any chances with this.

I have been using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit version patiently for several months now. The "performance indicator" says my Windows Vista experience is a 5.6 out of a possible 5.9 -- this is supposed to be some indication of how fast my hardware is. So, my hardware is top notch -- brand new HP quad core Phenom 2.4 GHz processor with 8GB of RAM. As a matter of fact, all my hardware gets a 5.9/5.9 except my video card. But, as soon as I boot, I notice the OS is using 1.5GB of RAM, before I touch anything. If I leave Internet Explorer open, it has a memory leak that gets progressively worse and completely overtakes the system within a few hours. I tried to play a movie, and it struggled to decode it fast enough -- playback suffered immensely.

My patience has run out. I'm reverting ... Read More

Software : Microsoft Windows Home Server OEM

I decided to switch from using a regular desktop with shared folders to a server because of the backup functions. I knew there were some plugins out there, but now I am blown away by the number of functions I can do.

I am planning to build a house soon, and now I am actually considering a fully automated lighting/ac/electrical system run through Windows Home Server. If my wife forgets to turn off her curling iron ever again, I'll be able to log in and shut down the bathroom power!

Consider me a HUGE fan of Windows Home Server.

This is the last release of x64 XP from Microsoft, you'll only get updates, but no SP3 update. It runs at least 4x the speed of an optimized Vista system. I personally use it on my dual core system, and couldn't imagine using Vista.

I needed to upgrade one of my systems--and Vista was really the only option. The OS is stable and has lots of new features--but, I tend to join the growing number of people that feel they are forced to upgrade into something that also forces them to spend hundreds of additional dollars for new applications because Vista refuses to run the older ones they already own--and that runs fine under XP. Come on Microsoft--while you were providing all these other special features--would it have hurt you to provide a way for your customers to run all of their older stuff? In this financial crisis we're facing--people are getting angry about these kinds of marketing tactics. For this reason--I'm looking at a serious future move into Linux. Did you know that Red Hat Linux runs the varius computer systems at the New York ... Read More

I was skeptical at first about upgrading to Vista from XP but now I'm confident with Vista+SP1's reliability, security, interface, and added automation of more complex tasks in Windows. I recommend it.
