Haven't had luck with either one. Most likely the problem lies with the copy of Windows you are trying to use. Bootlegged? Doesn't work so well. XP people, make sure you have your os disk with SP2 already included on the disk. Overall, Crash after Crash....after Crash. Everytime I create a new vm with either program, it doesn't want to operate correctly, such as screen freezing, crashing every open program, unable to install windows correctly (my personal favorite because appx. 1 hr. after the os has finally been installed...crash!). Don't want to scare you. Don't waste your money with either, stick with Bootcamp (no problems since). FYI--Parallels and Fusion are made by the same company!!! See for yourself.

I purchase NIS 2008 in April for both my own computer (5 years old) and my daughters computer which is 2 years old. 1 gig of memory in both and lots of hard disk space. The performance is awful!!! On occasion NIS software takes over the computer for up to 30 minutes. Their COH32.exe piece of code blew up to taking 874K of main memory and kills the performance. Symantec has lost sight of the goal is not protection of customers at "any" cost. And not just "good" performance on PCs with the fastest processors and 2 to 4 gigs of memory. I uninstalled NIS 2008 and my performance has returned to normal. The NIS 2008 "cure" was worse than the "disease". I switched from Norton to McAfee three years ago and I've been happy with my decision ever since. The latest version of McAfee Internet Security Suite with Site Advisor installed quickly and easily. When surfing the web it lets you know which sites are safe and which are suspicious. If it hasn't inspected the site it also lets you know that so that you can decide whether or not to enter it. I trust this product completely, and highly recommend it.

Installation. If you have Vista, the CD requires that you download the software; for other platforms, you can choose installation by CD or download. I have installed it to XP computers using the download version. I would welcome full CD-based installation for all platforms since that's what I would do for a computer that I suspected was infected. After the full download, the installer checks for incompatible programs, which you must uninstall before continuing. Most of these, such as rival virus software, will require rebooting in the middle of the McAfee installation. This worked but it seems inefficient to me: why not run a software check before downloading the full program? Operation. Removed Norton 360 because it cost $79.00 to replace. Installed Trend Micro for $39.00. Called support and got a small problem fixed in 3 min. The system found 4 Trogan virus right away that Norton missed. Then it told me to go to Micrsoft and download a patch for Windows XP. I am very happy so far and have not noticed any slowness associated with Trend Micro. Except now that my system is actually being checked I expect some slowness at times.

It's basically the same as last years, only a new skin, but it doese seem to go slower than before. Its ok, not amazing, but good enough.

It does not work well. It repeatedly comes out with an error message and asks to be re-installed. The re-instalation does not help.

My 2008 Norton A/V intolerably slowed down booting both a desktop and a laptop, and occasionally caused them to run slowly. The virus scans were also time consuming. So, based on user reviews, I decided to try the bitdefender. While I don't know how it compares to the Norton in ferreting out problems, it sure speeded up the computers, and does a full scan in about half the time. It alerted me to an attempted update of a Norton A/V module, which stubbornly remained after the rest of the Norton had been uninstalled. The installation was a bit confusing, after installing the program, it seemed to want to start all over again. It turns out that was one of the last steps. I called customer service, they were very responsive.

If you are a descent software user, the kind of person who enjoys learning applications, then I recommend Dreamweaver CS3. I used this software to build my first website [...] and I would not have been able to do it without this software. Yes, there are other products but this one allowed me to create a fully functioning website without having had any prior html experience.
