MSOffice for Home and Student 2007 has many enhancements over MSOffice 2003, but some of the improvements are not as intutitive as others. However, once you get used to it, this product works great. The "ribbons" have a lot of functions, and it takes awhile to learn where they all are. The ones you use most, though, can be added to your quick access bar, next to "save" and "undo." My favorite feature is that 2007 "saves" smaller - a PowerPoint presentation that is 803Meg in 2003 is 540Meg in 2007 - a boon for a college student who has a limited size for a project.

I've owned XP for a couple of years, and its a great system. It doesnt crash, its easy to use, and its customization is much better then Vista and Mac OSX (but not better then Linux.) Its the most professional, its used by business people. Its also great to have if your a bit geekier. You can change the themes. Code and game if you want. Its just more flexible (Mac OSX/Vista isn't.)

Right now I'm running Vista (I hate it, and so do all my freinds) and on another computer (a shiny new Imac) I have apple. It comes down to this:

XP > Mac OSX > Vista. And Linux goes somewhere in there depending on who you are.

Overall XP is the best. There are a few exceptions, like being dumb/effortless, or being a professional photographer/video maker, but XP is better for normal ... Read More

Windows XP Professional is now a mature stable OS that I have become quite comfortable working with over the past 6 years. For a new PC recently built for my home office network I chose to stay with Windows XP Professional for compatibility with 2 other PCs running XP Pro, a network shared multi-function laser printer for which full function Vista drivers are not available, and potential issues with other older hardware and software.

Depending on the version, Vista offers some built in functionality not included in XP Pro, but Vista also requires higher end PC hardware than XP. Having some limited experience using Vista PCs, I have found no compelling reason to upgrade from XP, particularly considering potential Vista compatibility issues with older hardware and software used with my home ... I have had this cow for a little over a week, purchased together with my new MacBook, and I've gradually regained my sense of humor. Thank God I did this when I didn't have a project due where I'd actually have to USE the program right away!

I've used earlier versions of Word for Mac, way back to my first Mac Plus. I have also used various versions of Word at the office on a PC. This version takes the cake! The problem is that the most common and inoffensive commands are missing from any tool bar, and cannot be added in via a simple icon (e.g., spell check, line spacing, among others), and seem nowhere to be found without serious detective work -- a focused hunt for how to actually accomplish the functions that are needed. I go to the Help menu -- good luck with that. Nothing is ever there ... Read More

I've used Quickbooks for approximately 10 years, and am very familiar with its capabilities and limitations. Unfortunately, Intuit markets this product as Vista compatible. It is not. And although the product does operate, there are significant issues.

Recently purchased this at Amazon and overall am very happy with the firewall. Some people may be put off by the initial training mode, but it is worth the work for peace of mind. I used to use zone alarm suite for the past 4 years but recently they have become unstable to say the least. I look forward to Kaspersky to keep up the good work!

Well, they've done it again. Microsoft has introduced a "new" product that does the exact same thing as the "old" product (Outlook from Office XP Professional Edition). But with the introduction of the Vista Operating System, the "old" version no longer works properly. So, Microsoft has again forced my hand into buying a new product that I don't really need because I already own a version, but I am forced to buy a new version in order to get it to work properly on my machine.

Thanks, Microsoft, for continuing to take my money for things that I already have and am forced to buy again.

Let me start out by saying that I tried to install Windows on my Mac a few months ago, with Bootcamp. Well, Bootcamp ended up erasing my entire hard drive--I lost everything. Wouldn't you know that my back-up hard drive I had purchased didn't arrive at my door until the day after this...

I was hesitant to try this again, but Fusion came highly recommended by Apple Geniuses and I really needed Windows for one program for work on my Macbook.

After an easy, breezy set-up, I now have Windows, and my hard drive is still intact! Fusion is really amazing. No restarting the computer to put into Windows mode; it goes into stand-by when not in use. Files are easily found and used on both OS. I can even watch my Netflix now.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a program other than Bootcamp. ... Read More

Bootcamp comes with Leopard as a free addon... totally worth it!
