The Norton 30 Version 2.0, is a good software with a very nice features. Keeping your PC free of Viruses and another very good instance: protect your PC from intruders. Its tell you when someone is attacking your PC and more important: They can not get into.

I tried OneCare's trial version on a new computer we put into our small business network. I had intermittent problems loading and printing across the network through some of our older DOS programs (yes, we still use several old programs because they work great). The puzzling thing was that I could reboot the computer one time, or nine times before the DOS programs would load and print--it was that unpredictable. I disabled OneCare to see if it was causing the problem. The problems persisted, so I assumed it was caused by something else and bought OneCare through Amazon for all our computers. The same problems then occurred with those computers, so I uninstalled OneCare, which solved all our loading and printing problems. A previous version of this software came with Vista PC I purchased for my father over a year ago. When I renewed this product I performed the recommended upgrade to 2008 Internet Security (1 user) and made sure that it was working properly. I checked on his computer a few months later to find this software had disabled auto-protect features without warning. I couldn't enable these features and there was nothing to indicate what the problem was. I clicked on the Fix It button and after a long scan of the computer it was determined I needed to contact support without any indication of what the problem is. I've used Trend Micro for 3 years and found it to be a decent anti-malware product. It's easy to use and has had good ratings from consumer organizations. TM provides free chat and phone support, which is unusual. However, in my experience none of these products, including Trend Micro, are perfect. You need to supplement them with products like NoScript and SiteAdvisor. You also get conflicts with other software. One thing I didn't like about TM 2008 is that it before installation it made me uninstall auxiliary protection products like SpywareBlaster and AVG Antispyware--but I was able to reinstall some of them later.

Not intuitive at all. Very limited built-in help. Hard-to-access service and no answer at their 800 number. All-in-all the 2 of 5 stars I'm giving is generous. The actual product isn't bad, but you need to be a BitDefender employee in order to figure it out. After 5 emails asking for help, I got a generic response with instructions to email them for help!

The product was impossible to set up and ridiculously cumbersome to use. I returned it.

Over all a great product. It does impact startup and shutdown speed. It more than tripled the time it takes for the computer to shut down once you click the shut down button (Windows XP). I do like the features better than other security systems I've tried, however.

A few weeks after install, I got a warning message saying BitD was no longer responding - contact Tech Support. I did, got an automated reply telling me to run some diagnostics. I did. Now we're in week 3, and no response yet after I pinged them two more times. Tried the phone # on the website, but after several automated menus they tell you to go to the website. Don't buy it.

I initially found out about this via a review from the Consumer Reports magazine. That helped me make my decision, and I am glad I did give it another chance, because I had tried it a few years before, and was not impressed, so had moved on to another protection program. This is my 2nd year with it since my return. They really have improved a lot from my initial use years ago. I found it both easy to load and use, and excellent protection for my 3 family computers.

This software allows you to access an NTFS formatted hard drive with an Apple Mac. The access is limited however. It is not possible to play large video files from the NTFS hard drive. By large I mean anything over 2-3 GB. I find this to be an annoying problem. The work around is to copy the file you want to play from the NTFS external hard drive onto the computer. This is the only problem I have noticed so far. I give the product 6 out of 10.
