The features in Lightroom 2 are well worth the cost to upgrade. Yes, a few bugs need to be addressed. Lighroom VER 1 had them too and Adobe did fix them. I would recommend getting "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter)" by Scott Kelby. Lightroom like Photoshop is complex program to learn , and it does take some time to master. If you are a photographer that has to sort and process a lot images Lightroom will more than pay for itself in the time that it can saves you.

Lightroom 2 is a great resource for photographers, combining cataloging, development and print capabilities. The develop module is the knockout here. It's similar in many respects to Photoshop's Camera Raw, but in my opinion the Lightroom interface is superior. Though it's easy to open images in Photoshop, Lightroom's local adjustment brush often makes that additional step unnecessary, and the saving in file size is significant. I'm also a fan of Photoshop, but given its high price, those who don't have it already should consider whether Lightroom alone satisfies their needs. The lack of a printed manual is regrettable, but a pdf version is available from Adobe at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/2.0/lightroom_2_help.pdf.

I recently changed over from a PC to latest iMAC. Transferring software for this product I found a prompt for a serial number. However I had long since thrown the packaging. Reading general customer comments on the web I found a lot of negative press for Data Color help desk and complaint that customers could not get the serial number. However my experience was very good. I got a quick response, you just need to quote them the number on the USB plug. Calibration worked great!

What a joy to use and what an expansive artistic reach this permits. I may never learn all the tricks and details, but I am sure going to try.

Photoshop has been the leader in the field for many years now. The good thing is that they are not resting on their laurels, but continually striving to improve the product. Photoshop has advanced to a stage where one can do virtually anything with image files. The improvements in this version are mostly improvements to simplify the processes and I suppose to improve stability (which still needs a little work) and speed, which is spectacular. The user interface has been much improved over the years and I believe a novice should be able to teach himself the basics of this programme by just playing around. If your operating system is for Windows Vista I'd advise you to stay away from this program! I purchased this program in Feb.2008 and figured I had plenty of time to install it on my computer. Well, it won't install using Vista as the operating system. I'd probably wouldn't have had a problem if I was running it on my old computer, Window XP was it's operating system but I brought a new one. So don't buy this unless you check to make sure it'll run on your computers operating system! I'd rate this 0 stars since I can't use it but the system wouldn't allow it so it has 1 star!
